  1. My surgery is coming up on mon sept 17 and your story, while I know everyone's experience, puts some of those horrible negative thoughts to rest! Best of luck to you!!!
  2. Thank you so much for support!!!! I guess im more just freaking out about the surgery aspect of it all. Any chance they can put me out now to make it through the week lol? (jk of course). Im hoping the surgery/hospital period is over as quick as everyone says but the one thing that keeps me going is knowing I can't possibly continue the way I am. Looking forward to reacquainting myself with a slightly improved version of my old self reading the threads on here has been helpful in pushing me forward! Thank you again!
  3. So finally after almost a year long process I am looking surgery straight in the eye and not going lie, I'm scared! After years of losing weight and putting it back on I am ready to put an end to it. I have never been in the hospital , unless you count the day I was born, nevermind had surgery of any kind so recently I have been thinking "i cant go through with it". I dont want to chicken out since I have been dreaming of this day. Any words of advice?
  4. Getting the band on sept 17 after almost a year long process!
  5. Hi Pat! I am also in the pre- op phase as I have just received approval from my insurance company after 6 months of a supervised diet requirement. Like you I also have a friend who had gastric bypass and has "put down" the band on several occassions whicj initally made me reconsider the band but through my own research and joining this forum I am set on the band i wish you all the best in your band jouney!
  6. Momo I feel as though I will have the same feelings that you did prior to surgery. I have never had a surgery before nor have I ever had to stay in the hospital so needless to say I get myself easily freaked out about the surgery. I just have to keep reminding myself that the outcome will be worth it
  7. Hi all, I just got approval for surgery after a 6 month required diet. Expecting surgery in sept/oct depending on how long it takes me to schedule the rest of the appointments(ie: upper GI etc). Just wondering if any one happened to be or around Rhode Island?
  8. Question..... What is this plication that keep reading about?
  9. Just wanted to say that finding this forum has been a huge relief. Thank you all for sharing your experiences both pre and post op. being a preop in waiting has been exciting but also very anxiety inducing , especially having zero experince in the way of any prior surgeries or hospital stays. Being able to read everyone's stories usually puts my anxiety to rest when it starts to creep up. So thanks again!
  10. Awesome!!! I have done the psych eval and inital surgeon consult.
  11. Congrats prettysmart!!!!! Have you completed any of your pre-op appointments yet? I am currently waiting for my packet with the scheduled appointments. Hopefully the surgery will be scheduled by the end sept.
  12. Congrats!!!! Best of luck from RI
  13. Thanks so much! Im sure I will be posting many questions along the way
