  1. Congratz, to everyone that will be banded in September or October. Woo hooo-- I have a question for you guys, Have you went to a Lap Band Support Group? I went yesterday, and it was wonderful. Very supportive and informative. It was mandated that I go to 1 support group meeting. But I will be going back next month. They give great feedback regarding the experience, recipe ideas, etc.
  2. I'm yet to be banded, I tried Xenadrine and had some bad reactions, blood pressure shot to the roof and heart rate was high. My doctor told me to throw them out. So just be careful with them and if you have HTN, dont use them . They may work but is it worth the possible issues it can cause.
  3. Congrats, on your status, and I wish you luck, I guess I have it pretty good, since i just started my banding process in June and most likely will be band in September. Again CONGRATS!
  4. Im getting a little more excited, I went to see my PCP today, and to my suprise she completed the recommendation form, and said she really feels that once may weight decreases, the sleep apnea, hypertension, and insulin resistance would most likely go away. She originally did not agree to the band, but reviewed info about it, she now says that it would be my best option to use in long term health and weight control. (What I have left to do?) I have just 2 nutrition visit, which 1 is this coming Monday and another 1 , is 25 days from the first 1, have to go to a support group meeting this month, followup with the surgeon and wait on the insurance, which stated that it can take anywhere from 7-21 days for approval. So Im looking to be banded by the end of September.
  5. I agree with lauralou779, Relax, count to 3,and follow your doctors recommendation. He wants you to heal up from the previous surgery. Im familiar with the appetite suppressant pills, which you may want to stay away from them since they are a part of fen, fen, ( phentermine) which are known to sometimes increase blood pressure and Heart rate, something you dont want to happen. Stay motivated and focus on your long term goal, It will be OK.
  6. Thanks everyone for the feedback, My surgeon gave me a letter of recommendation to give to my PCP to complete,so I have an appointment this month with her. To JessiG1983, My PcP states that she has not heard a lot of success about the Lapband and I would probably loose only 5 pounds a month. She doesnt understand because she maybe weighs 120 pounds. I have been struggling with this weight for about 8 years and she knows that Its really affecting my health in negative ways. So I will see what she says, I will keep you guys posted. Thanks again everyone, wish me luck.
  7. Im new to this site, I just started my testing process on June 13,2012 and so far I have completed the UPPER GI, Psych Eval, Sleep Study ( got the results today and Yes I have Sleep Apnea). I have 2 Dietary consults left. My question is I have the Diagnosis of Hypertension, Sleep Apnea, knee pain, early signs of insulin resistance and a BMI of 42. Can my PCP slow down the process, shes somewhat against the surgery , but keeps stating that I need to lose weight and that my symptoms would decrease.
