    Tummy Talk

Ok, so I had my first fill on Wednesday. I haven't noticed much in the way of restriction (which I hear is normal), but my tummy sure has been "talking" a lot. I also call it rumble gut. Is this normal?

    Tummy Talk

I had surgery 6/14. I think most people have to wait anywhere between 3-6 weeks and sometimes longer for their first fill. But, like I said earlier--I had mine Wed. and feel no restriction now 4 days later.

    Holy Hell!

So, I went in to have my first fill today. I've been apprehensive and even dreamed about it last night. I was trying to stay chill. My doc says, "Let's get started. Don't worry, it isn't going to hurt." Initially he was right. The needle went in and I barely felt it. However, he then informs me that the needle he just used was too small. It couldn't quite reach my port. He starts apologizing and tells me he is going to have to stick me again. I know because he is apologizing that 1) the needle is going to be bigger, and 2) its going to hurt. Nothing could have prepared me for that. It hurt so bad and I am not a complete weiner when it comes to needles! All I could do was take slow, deep breaths and try not to think about what he was doing. It seemed like it took forever to get 3cc's in there. I bled right through the bandaid and it is so sore now...worse than my surgery! After I got through that, I went to do the barium check. The nurse asked if it felt ok or if it felt stuck. I felt fine but then I could hear the barium gurgling in my throat. She said that I might be too tight. Well, let me tell you--after that horrific experience I wasn't about to go back in there for a little unfill. I drank my bottle of water, told them I was fine (which honestly I was), and went home. I sure hope it isn't like this every time.
  4. So, I am 28 days post-op and I was wondering how long the internal stitches (or whatever they are) are supposed to last? One of my incisions has a stiff, poinky piece sticking out of it. It doesn't hurt but sure is annoying. Anyone have this happen?

    Too Much Too Soon

Ok, so I had a vomitting episode after trying to eat a bunless hamburger. The vomitting part didn't hurt so much, but now I feel like I have a stitch in my side like you get when you run. Is this normal?

    Too Much Too Soon

Thanks for your input. I am straight now...no more experiments. The pain was minimal and is gone now, so I hope that is a good sign.

    Howdy

My name is Angie, and I thought I would introduce myself since I am new to the site. I am 34 years old...although I still feel like I am still in my early 20s, only a lot wiser, lol. I am from Texas, have been married to my high school sweetheart for 15 years, and have 3 beautiful children. I topped out at 274 lbs. and I am 5'2.5". I have struggled with weight my entire life, and had to endure being the only fat child of 3. My sisters were both thin and beautiful. I feel like it is my turn now. I had the surgery on 6/14 to get healthy and to finally feel good about myself. I did it for ME! I look forward to learning more about myself and this journey I am on, and I also look forward to meeting more of you fellow bandsters out there.

    Texas Support??? Banded 6-12-12

I am 34, live in the Humble/Atascocita area and was banded June 14th. I could totally use a buddy ;o)
  10. Hello. I am only two weeks into this long journey, and I am quickly learning that it is wreaking havoc on my emotions. Here is what I am currently dealing with: I had my one week post- op checkup last Friday. My doc said that I could move up from liquids only to liquids and chunky (non-creamy) Soups. Chunky soups have bits of solid food, so now that I'm eating it I feel like I am eating too much. I do not break 1000 calories a day, drink my Water, and consume my Protein, but it's all playing games with my mind. How do I know how much to eat with no restriction? What happens if I'm eating too much of the chunky Soup? I'm so worried I am going to do something to my pouch. Any advice?
