  2. Surgery date 11/20/2012 Just wanted to give an update, I saw the doctor for my 6 month post op appointment. I am at exactly 100 lbs lost. I do not have to take any medicine for diabetes anymore. I no longer take medicine for high blood pressure and I am getting tested next week to rid myself of the bi-pap machine. I haven't even been able to sleep with it, cause I feel like it forces too much air in my belly. I also test at normal range for my thyroid, so no more medicine there either. I feel great! I do however feel very hungry around my cycle time and feel like I graze a bit, need to get that under control.
  3. Hi, I had my surgery Nov 20th and today I am down 101 lbs. Starting weight was 361, lost 20 lbs with liquid diet and today I am weighing in at 260. I feel very blessed to have been able to have this surgery. It has changed my life, not always easy but it is worth it.

  8. I was sleeved 11/20, starting weight was 361. Weighed this morning at 297, I not in the 300's anymore. I lost 20 of those lbs during liquid phase. It is a struggle for me to eat solid but it is getting a little better everyday.
  9. Sleeved on November 20th, 3 weeks post-op today.... Still having a hard time drinking my fluids, anybody else having the same problem? Last week, I was admitted into the hospital for dehydration and fluid on my lung.... I am also very tired, about 7pm, I want to feel normal again....

  11. Hi Y'all, I was sleeved on Tuesday and have been in the hospital. I will be released today, the only real problems were that I was nauseated and had the dry heaves. My blood count was low and I had to get blood. I feel great today but it was rough.
  12. I am on my way to the hospital, my surgery is at 8am. Praying for others who are also being sleeved today.
  13. Today, I start the liquid diet phase of my journey. I honestly had a moment where I grieved for food last night, but I woke up with a renewed mindset and a protein shake. My whole life has revolved around food, breakfast time we talk about what we will eat for lunch and lunch time we talk about what we will eat for dinner. I think that is the New Orleans in me, No more! I prayed this morning for strength to get through the liquid diet phase. Surgery is 7 days away....
  14. I start my liquid diet on Tuesday and I am nervous...

  20. I can't wait to try new things because I am always scared to do anything... I have been like this all my adult life!
  21. My name is Melissa and I am currently seeing a doctor in Dallas about the gastric sleeve. I have gone through several test and my insurance will pay for it, but I need 6 months of diet classes. I may be looking towards the end of September before I can have the surgery. I am 36 years old and can barely remember what it is like to be a normal weight. The last 5 years, I have been above 300lbs. I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, the fried food capital of the world. I remember any food we ate, was always fried, with rice or Pasta. My father was overweight and a Diabetic by the time I was 5 years old, but we still did not learn to eat right. I am hoping to be able to gain some information and friendships. Melissa
