  1. I'm in on this one as well! My "BIG" goal is to run in a Disney Half Marathon (I'm hoping for The Princess Half in February--but that may be too soon)
  2. Thanks Indy! What a great reference so we can check in on all our June Bandsters! Good Luck to those being banded today!
  3. Hey Jean, How's it going?
  4. I had my pre-op appointment at the hospital, did all the pre-admit paperwork and met with the nutritionist. I am getting so excited for a week from today! I only have 1 day of pre-op diet to follow. I'm doing my own little self imposed pre-op diet. Good luck to those being banded this week! Keep us posted on how you're doing.
  5. I was told I would be on clear liquids nor the first three days post op then on full liquids. The PA did say it would be hard to get proteins with that, but to begin with protein shakes when I begin full liquids.
  6. Hey Shannon. Glad everything went well for you. I go for my pre-op on Monday. Let's stay in touch through this process. I love Louisiana. I am born and raised here.
  7. I haven't been banded yet, but at my consultation with my surgeon yesterday he said vitamins for the rest of my life. I went today and bought adult gummy multivitamins, gummy Calcium 500mg 2x a day and sublingual B-12. I also bought Biotin.
  8. I wanna play! I'm June 19th. I'm starting my own, self-prescribed pre-op diet on Monday after my pre-op appt at the hospital, My surgeon only requires a day before clear liquid diet, but after listening to everyone here, I am going to do a couple of Protein shakes and a very small meal. I'm very excited. I have told a few friends (very few, like 5), my family of course (who are EXTREMELY happy for me), my boss, and a few co-workers. My husband's family will NOT be told. At least not until I have to. They will not be supportive at all, they would be the ones watching me like a hawk and judging me. I'm excited to begin my Renaissance.
  9. Glad you are home. Sounds like you are doing what you should to get rid of that gas pain (that is one part of that I am not looking forward to). Keep us posted on your progress.
  10. WOW, lots of banding today! Happy "Birth" Day to you all today! Wishing you all the best!
  11. Thanks! I'm really looking forward to this.
  12. Sounds like a good plan. Good Luck to you!
  13. Sometimes nervous is good. It's good energy. Look at it this way, tomorrow is your "birth"day. You get a chance to start over and do it right this time. Good Luck and Congrats!
  14. Good Luck! Keep us posted on how you're doing.
  15. Good Morning June Bandsters! I just got confirmation from the Dr's office and my Renaissance Day is June 19th! I go for pre-op with the Dr. on Thursday this week, and then at the hospital on Monday the 11th. I'm excited and kinda nervous. For those of you already banded, what has been your down time from work?
  16. I am participating in an obesity study though Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, LA. I have been through several stages of the trials and have just been approved by the surgery board for banding. My first pre-op with the surgeon in June 7th. I'm very excited and I have a million questions, but this forum has really answered many of the questions I've had. My name is Lisa and I'm a wife and mother of two grown children.(Our oldest is married, and our baby is getting married in October). I was born and raised in south Louisiana. I have been overweight since I got pregnant with the oldest. At one time in my life I was 135 lbs. I gained 75 lbs with the first baby and she was a whopping 6 lbs, 3oz. (I'm still carrying that extra weight plus many, many more pounds). I'm doing this for me! My husband, children, parents and the few friends I've told are incredibly supportive (my inlaws....that's a whole other story). I refuse to let them get me down! I have been a happy "fat person" my entire adult life. I don't really have any self-confidence issues (I am an actress in my spare time, so I'm no shy violet), but I need to be much healthier. I have yo-yo'd up and down the scale for years (more than I care to count). Each time, I have gained more than I lost. I am a true southern girl and love food. Everytime there is a family gathering...there is a ton of food (and it's all very, very good food). I am determined to get rid of all my fat clothes and even begin participating in half marathons. See, I'm a Disney Fanatic (so is my husband). I have to use a scooter because it's just too painful on my joints to walk the parks all day. I want to enoy walking the parks with my husband and eventually my grandchildren. My mother is a diabetic and my grandmother before she passed away. WHile I currently don't have any symptoms, I know it can be an inevitibility for me if I don't do something about it. I'm starting this process at my largest, 330 lbs, which is way too much me. I'm ready for the challenges that lie ahead. I'm determined to get healthy and loose the weight.
