  2. Someone posted a recipe for carb free bread. It is called cloud bread. The recipe can be found here. Some say it is very good, I have not tried it, but it is in my post surgery cook book for future reference. http://www.food.com/recipe/carb-free-cloud-bread-411501 Here are the nutritional values for it. 3. www.unjury.com They have a chicken soup protein mix that you can use during your clear liquids phase. It will mix and suppose to taste just like chicken broth. I cannot vouch for taste as I havent sampled yet.
  4. WooHoo.. Welcome aboard Sleevealicious. I too am having surgery on the 6th, Our very own August wonder " FutureSkinnyPants" will have your name on the tracking chart very soon. She is the wonderful lady who is keeping chart of everyones surgery date. We would truly be lost without her. I would like to wish you the best of luck on your new journey. May our roads be paved as smoothly as possible.
  5. I have myfitness pal, but I haven't been using it yet. I have actually been looking into fitbit, only cause most of my daily activities and duties are on a ranch working. So the fitbit will keep track of steps, stairs, movement etc. and it even will track my sleep cycles along with food and calories. I am not sure how much time I will have to actually do the treadmill or go to a gym, but I will be doing physical labor once I am cleared to do so of course. I went shopping the other day to buy some of the items that is required of me to have before and after surgery. I was walking arm and arm with my husband and I was jittery and nervous. He asked me what was wrong and I told him, shopping is making all this real. It was giving me butterflies in my stomach. He just assured me everything was going to be ok. After getting back into town from shopping we went to check mail, and to my surprise I got our passports in. That was the final straw for me. That almost sent me running for the bathroom. Those butterflies were trying to get out of my stomach. Luckily I was able to gain control of my swirling mind before it sent me overboard. The passports truly made everything real and thats when reality set in. So now its been a few days, I have been able to relax, and face my emotions. I am sure they may be hard to control until that day comes and goes. Here I thought I was strong, and life found a way to slap me in the face and say "Wake Up Honey" again.
  6. Congratulations on your success. It sounds like you have everything under control and ready to rock it. 83 lbs in 5 months is awesome. Keep up the hard work, and good luck reaching your ultimate goal for your cruise. You can do this. I can't wait to see what "Amazing" feels like again. Its been so many years. My time is on its way. Best wishes to you..

  10. I can relate to the tidiness, I haven't even started my pre-op diet yet, but I have been preparing things in the house. I want recovery to go smoothly and want to focus on me and not on things being out of place or disorganized. I do not have a goal yet, have to wait and see what the doctor says. Glad you are handling your pre-op diet easily. I will be starting mine in about 2 weeks, and I am not sure how well I will do. My diet will be a complete liquid diet for two weeks. I am so dreading it. Keep up all the great work you are doing, and I hope Wednesday moves smoothly for you and that you have a speedy recovery. You will be in my thoughts. Keep us updated on how you are doing. Best Wishes.
  11. For starters i am not sleeved yet, but this forum is very informative. I have learned that nearly everyone hits a stall around 4-6 weeks some later. These stalls can last 2-4 weeks, with the norm more around 2 weeks. I know I cannot attest to my own situations, but from what I have read it happens, your not doing anything wrong, Some people think upping their Protein, carbs, or calories just a bit can help break the stall. If you do a search on stalls, you will come across many many posts, that may give you some better information. One person said a stall is inevitable. Referred to cleaning house. Our bodies are making such a change, that it realizes all of a sudden there is all this extra space, and is trying to figure out where everything went, so it is rearranging the furniture so to speak. They say that you should keep your measurements during a stall, cause even though you are not losing weight you are most likely losing inches as your body is adjusting to the already missing weight and extra space,. Best of luck on your journey. Keep up the great work, and you will soon reach goal.
  12. Thanks for sharing Mr. Worm. Congrats on your loss so far, and your almost at goal. Keep up the great work.
  13. I can't answer your questions about insurance or approval, but I know others will be able to. I would however like to welcome you to the boards and hope you enjoy the members that are around. There are tons of people who can offer support, experience, tips, how to's, and what nots. I have found this forum to be supportive, exciting, thrilling, informative, caring etc. This has become my second home. We are so close nit that we literally share in each others journey's. I wish you the best of luck with your journey. I hope things turn out well and you can start moving forward with your plans.
  14. Hi Aaron, welcome to the boards, Congrats on your surgery date!! Despite your nervousness and emotions of freaking out, you are going to do great. Everyone has nerves that kick in and try to convince you otherwise, but just stay strong. I just love the saying that can be transformed into so many variations. But 'No one said this journey would be easy, We only promise it will be worth it'. Best of luck to you.
  15. Holy Smokes!!, Congrats. It sounds like all of those are victories!! You are truly doing a great job. Keep up the awesome work. One day very soon I will be joining the victory run as well.

  19. I felt exactly the same way. A friend of mine has the lap-band and used Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana. At first I was leaning towards the lap-band too, so I was researching Dr. Ortiz. Then I started changing my mind and decided the sleeve was what I wanted to avoid any future complications with the band. Altho Ortiz does the sleeve, I couldn't compare my friends experiences as I changed procedures. I started looking through other doctors. I came across some that are much cheaper than Alvarez, but once I came across him, It was like a "Slap in the face" moment. I just had a very strong pull that he was the doctor for me. A few months later and here I am, fixing to start a pre-op diet in a few weeks and ready to get this show on the road. I have never been more certain of my decisions.
  20. Sounds like a plan Mom24. We do have a Alvarez forum going from a bunch of us going to him. If you haven't checked it out already. Of course its everyone Alvarez not just Texas. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/40253-dr-alvarez/
  21. Texas here as well. I never even checked out the Texas forums. I keep getting side-tracked with all the other informative posts on here. I am scheduled for surgery August 6, 2012 with Dr. Alvarez. My feelings of "This is Real, This is really happening" started when I was purchasing the required Vitamins, and items for my pre-op diet. The grocery shopping made me shaky, butterflies in my stomach. The pass-port that came in the mail the same day, sent me into a nauseated world spinning, no turning back; I can do this mode. Nice to meet you all. Good luck to everyone and all who have upcoming surgeries.
  22. I will definitely send prayers, well wishes and best of luck your way. I am sure everything is going to turn out just fine. I wish you have a speedy, uneventful recovery. Let us know and keep us updated as soon as you can. You can DO This!!
  23. Congrats Tabby. You are going to do fine. We share the same surgery date. Let's Rock This!! Being scared is a natural sense for the body. I have been through many surgeries in my life so the fear I have learned to override, but the anticipation, and the excitement that I get from this surgery, is just wild. If I could make the calendar fly by I would.
  24. Congratulations on reaching your your surgiversary!! It sounds like it has been a grand year for you. I love reading everyones success stories. I can't wait til I get to start working on my year. Coming soon,, Coming soon. Keep up the great work.
  25. I would have imagined choosing a Mexico doctor would be very difficult. I was planning on difficulty but my decision was very easy. A personal friend of mine was recommending the same doctor who did her lap-band 5 years ago, so he is who i started researching at first. I got on forums all over and was ready other people's experiences with him. Upon researching for him, I came across the doctor I am using. I had such a strong inner pull towards him. So I started focusing most of my research to this new doctor. To much of my surprise he was who I felt most comfortable inside about. I did get the chance to meet him a seminar this past May, and seeing. meeting, and having him to answer my questions personally one on one, only secured my decision. I have chosen the best doctor for myself. So I would imagine finding a good doctor or researching a mexico doctor would be difficult if you didn't get that inner feeling of "Thats The One". I would suggest reading the forums, researching the internet, checking their stats are all good places to start. In the end you really have to go with the one you are most comfortable with.
