I am a 62 year old female who has battled weight issues my entire life. When I was in 7th grade, I already weighed 170 lbs and had to shop in the "chubby" department for clothes. It was a humiliating experience and has haunted me right through all the years. When I was 24 (in 1974) I joined Weight Watchers for the first of many times. I lost 50 lbs in six months and was so happy and proud of myself. As we all know, the loss lasted about another six months before the pounds started to come back. Thus began the life long process of losing and gaining. I joined WW many times, as well as other programs that were similar and other methods that were expensive and useless ($3000 for hyponsis "guaranteed to work". When I hit an all time high of 250 I knew it was time to take drastic action. The first time I joined a LapBand program was two years ago. I attended the six months of meetings as required by insurance and about one month before I was scheduled for surgery, I had a serious accident taking me out o commission for almost a year and missed the window of opportunity.

I joined again last November, in a new program with new insurance and set to work insuring that I had all the proper information for the insurance company and for the medical facility. I was approved by insurance on the first round of reviews and scheduled for surgery for May 8th. It went off without a hitch and I am now in recovery.

I am happy to have achieved this and am very much looking forward to the new journey of weight loss and experiencing life and shopping as a thin person.
