    First Blog...ever! :)

Soo..yeah...totally new to this blogging thing... I hope that this will be a great place for all of my hopes, fears, rants, and hopefully support for what I'm going through. I have had lots and lots of support from this site already and I'm sure it will continue. So a little about me...I'm a teacher, about to move from Middle School Choir to Elementary Music. I am 31 and I feel like I am just now starting my life. I have always been big..you get out a picture of my kindergarten class and I'm the rolly polly in the back. I was constantly teased, taunted, and belittled by my peers and still made fun of by my students now. My senior year of High School I was a size 18/20, I don't remember a time at all that I EVER loved my body. BUT, I'm starting to now.. My "I'm DONE" moment happened this year when I stepped on the dreaded scale and the numbers were over 300...310 to be exact. I said..WTF and decided then and there that I need a HUGE change. My daughter is 6 years old and I can't play with her, I don't want to play with her..and it seems like the only thing I DO want to do is sit on the couch and watch TV...that is just WRONG!!! I had spent a year with a personal trainer and got no where because of not being able to control my portions and what I ate.... I had tried weight watchers...and numerous other things...and then a friend of mine said WLS and I said..hmmm maybe...if only my insurance would cover it.... At the time my husband was working and I was on his insurance. No dice, but then he got laid off...for almost two years... I got on my work's insurance and wow...they covered WLS!!! YAY!!! I went through a tough spot with my husband not wanting me to have the surgery, but I was determined and scheduled it. I have to get on duty at school now, but I am super excited to say that I have lost a total of 46lbs since I had surgery on April 23rd and 4 inches around my chest...I'm back into an 18/20 shirt (my butt is still stubborn about loosing so that has only dropped to a 22/24, but from a 28..YAY!!) I'm looking forward to beginning to love my body.
  3. So, yesterday I learned one of the reasons why we are supposed to get so much water/liquids a day... apparently I wasn't getting enough and developed kidney stones for the first time in my life. Those things suck!!!! Just a word of warning to other newbie sleevers... DRINK LOTS OF FLUIDS!!!!
  4. So I feel like poopie...I am now 4 weeks out of surgery and I have stopped loosing weight...WTGRRrrr???? I thought it was just a stall, but this long??? And how do I get out of it...When I started eating anything again it just stopped. I am hardly eating anything and yet I'm still not loosing. I'm geting so frustrated. People are telling me that I look great, but I feel like poo. I don't see anything going away. I feel like crying. And it isn't that I'm just not loosing, I go from 268 to 272 and will not move from there. Depending on the numbers that means I'm down still 38-42lbs from when I started, but I am really dissapointed at how I haven't lost anything in more then a week. Any suggestions on how to get it kick started? I have added in exercise (swimming, tredmill, dancing) at least twice a week until school lets out, then I plan on going ot the gym every day. Maybe tracking what I do eat will help???
  5. Hey Ya'll!!! I had my sleeve two weeks ago and I am wondering if anyone else is having an issue with a weird taste in their mouth. It is really bad when I wake up, but all throughout the day it just feels icky. I find myself brushing my teeth a lot. And before today I loved the Protein shake I was on, but yesterday it started leaving an AWFUL aftertaste. Any suggestions??
  6. Ok...so I'm 3 weeks out tomorrow. I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue... I had that TOM a week before my surgery, then again a week after...I had three days..count them 3 days of nothing and now I'm back to bleeding....WTH????? Anyone else have this problem??? Does it even back out??? I feel enough like poopie from the surgery, I don't need this to add to it..LOL Ohh but yea, I am down 42lbs over all..pre surgery and everything..yay!!! Help!!!!!!
  7. Another question for my peeps...LOL Today and yesterday I have been having some sharp pains at times when I'm walking, talking or moving in general. It is right under the big incision (sp??) on my left side....It stops me and about doubles me over. I'm going for my two week check up today, but just wondering if anyone else knows what this could be... I don't "think" it is gas, it feels different....

    Weird Taste In Mouth?

Thanks for the replies ya'll!!! I'm sooo glad to know I'm not the only one with the funky mouth. LOL
  9. Howdy everyone!!! My name is Brandy and I had the sleeve on April 23rd. I am 31 years old and I have a daughter who is 6 and a lovely husband who is very supportive of my weight loss journey. I'm on my last week of liquid only and am sooo excited about all of the good things I have seen on this forum. I started thinking about getting the sleeve done about two years ago. I had been working out with a trainer for over a year and only lost 20lbs because of my eating...I would do good for a little bit and then give in to temptation..I knew I needed help. At that time I was 275lbs. My husband then lost his job and was out of work for 2 years. I thankfully had a job (I'm a teacher and was able to support us, but because of stress and not working out anymore over the next year I ballooned up to where right before the surgery I was 310lbs. I felt awful...tired all the time...depressed about being so heavy and just all around poopie. In January I got a call from my doctor that my insurance policy had changed..that they now covered the surgery without a six month doctor diet...I jumped at the chance. I had wanted to have the surgery in March, but issues with the insurance had me waiting until April 23rd. All in all with the pre diet and the short time I have had after, I have lost 40lbs and am lower then I have been in almost 3 years!!! I'm a so excited. I am looking for advice, help, support from this group as well as to be a support for others who are taking this journey. I am totally looking forward to seeing a skinnier, healthier me.
