What Do You Tell People?
I'm talking about the tummy tuck surgery. I told only a few friends about the band surgery for two reasons, it was done in the summer and didn't affect work at all, and second and most important, they can be so judgmental! As is, one of my inner circle commented that when she lost weight it was the 'real' way. Sigh. I'm just trying to figure out if this (tummy tuck surgery) is something I want to share or if I'm just opening myself up to negative scrutiny again. As of now I'm only saying that I'm having a bladder lift, which I am, but now someone else had that done and was back to work in 3 days. I feel like my lie is just going to start ballooning. Then again, I may be stressing over nothing. Gossip for a few days until newer, better gossip comes around! All that said, I am so flipping excited for the surgery! Blood work done this morning, then only two weeks Monday till the big day!

What Do You Tell People?
Hey everyone, when you had your surgery what did you tell people? I've told my family what's happening but I am very hesitant to be truthful at work. I think there will be a lot of negative judgements and resentment aimed towards me, especially given the fact that I'll be out of work, then restricted, for a significant amount of time. Right now I've told them I'm having 'female' work done, being as vague as possible. I know administration frowns on having elective surgery done during the school year, but obviously you take it when you get it. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Tummy Tuck on Halloween
Thanks for your post! My surgery date is December 2nd. Any other words of wisdom? Did you spend the night? When I had the band put in it was overnight and I'm glad it was. My tt surgeons scheduler said this might not even be overnight. That really surprised me to say the least. I figure if I push for it they'll let me stay. What are you wearing? Sweats, dresses? Did you have a full tt or just below the belly button? Congratulations, I hope I'm as strong as you!

I have my date :)
Hi All, I got my surgery date, Monday December 2! Knowing everyone is different I'm wondering how long people here have taken off from work. I will talk to my doc when i have my pre-surgery visit but wonder what real experiences say. I am a para-educator in a high school with no lifting, but some walking. I am able to take it easy if need be. I'm hoping to take off 2 weeks, then work two weeks and then have Christmas vacation. My thinking is even if things are much worse than I think I'll still have Xmas added on. What do you all think? Ann

Got approval!
Tami2014, it took me a while to figure out what you were saying. I got approved for a tt- a tummy tuck I don't work for AT&T.

Got approval!
So excited! I just opened my insurance letter saying I was approved for a tt! I'm waiting to hear from my doc but I think they approved the whole think, below and above the belly button! So excited! So glad I run cause I think that is what made the difference ( I never thought I'd be thankful for that godawful rash). Did I already say I AM SO EXCITED! Ann

Freezing feet and hands
Hi All, now that I am close to or at goal I find that as winter approaches I am absolutely freezing! Fingers and feet turn white when they get cold. Anyone else have this issue? This happened in the past when I was thin but it seems absurd, it's not like I had that much fat on my extremities! It's not even November and I'm in fleece pjs, fleece sheets, 2 blankets, and a quilt, and wearing socks to bed! Husband is not thrilled;) . It doesn't help that we have an old drafty farmhouse that we keep at 62 so we don't spend every penny on heating oil! Sigh. Annie

tummy tuck+?
Hi All, Just Sharing. I had my first appointment with the plastic surgeon concerning my belly. I am running 3 miles a day X 5 days a week. I battle a chronic rash. I actually thought it was all cleared up only to find it is still there. I guess it makes sense that I wouldn't know since I've had 3 C-sections and have no feeling around the scar area. All the more reason to loose the skin! Anyway, about 10 days till I find out yes or no. Now it is the waiting game. Planning on a bladder sling at the same time. Since loosing all this weight I can't sneeze without peeing! Hope this isn't tmi! Fingers crossed!

Almost done!
Well, sort of;) I'm finally below 150! It was a battle, and I finally had to cave in and start weight training to do it (I seriously love running). 3 more pounds till I reach my doctor's goal for me, 13 till I reach my goal (but that one is a moving target, up and down). My new school clothes, size 8, are starting to feel a tad too loose. I never thought I'd ever say that! For those who are at the beginning of this trip, let me tell you it really works if you play by the rules!

Horrible candy craving!!!
My gummy vits, and my calcium chews are my 'replacement' sweets. I get them from Costco, and they do it for me. The other thing I'd look into on a serious note is if you are getting sugar in some hidden form. Sweets crave sweet in my body, if I don't have any I don't crave any. Keep us posted, and sorry you are going through this!

Just for fun...what have you lost? I've lost...

New born calf here, working on a two month old horse and that should be the end!- still see a fat person in mirror
Thanks for all the positive thoughts! It is so odd how our head plays games with us for sure! I am hoping to have surgery, if insurance will cover it, because I'm running so much and no matter what I do I keep getting awful rashes. That might help how I view my belly. One super positive note is that when I went to finally buy some new clothes I started at a 12, too big. Went and got a 10, still too big. At that point one of the women working there started teasing me about no knowing my real size. When I told her how much I had lost she and the other woman working made it their job to be my personal dressers. I bought over $550 dollars worth of clothes, and between coupons, and employee discounts they got it down to $200 for me! They were wonderful, and have a new customer for life!- still see a fat person in mirror
Hi Everyone, I've lost 90 pounds and am within 5 pounds of goal (although I think once I get there it will become another 10 to lose). I am down from a size 22 to an easy size 8, it would probably be a 6 except for my flab. Sometimes if I catch a glimpse of myself in window reflection or a mirror without expecting it I look around for the slender person behind me. I seriously don't recognize myself. But, and here's the but, if I am at home and look at myself I still see someone fat. Not obese, but a big, fat, body. I know it can't be true because of the size I'm wearing. People tell me how good I look, and I always say something like "well, in 10 pounds maybe". How long till your brain catches up with your body? Seriously flawed right now in a funny way- when I was fat I saw chunky, now I'm not and I see someone fatter than before. Talk about messed up! Anyone else experience anything like this? Annie- skydiving=facelift :)
Does anyone else think this should qualify me for a facelift - I'm joking, just thought this was one of the few places I could post this photo!- parachuting!
I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane last Saturday! And I'm doing it again in 2 weeks! Yeah me! I love having my life back!- idiot- and stuck?
sick again, have a call into the doc. we'll see what he says- idiot- and stuck?
Would tea help, or aggravate? Finally feeling a little better by the way- idiot- and stuck?
Hi All, Banded last August (2012) and loving it. Came home late and hungery tonight. Hubbie had cooked dinner. I decided just to have some of his chicken so I grabbed a small thigh. I ate it too fast, and for the last 90 minutes have been pb-ing and vomiting. I've never had an issue before so I don't know how long this should keep going on. I'm puking up mostly mucus, and very little chicken- I think 99% of the chicken came up. Any suggestions? Is there anything I can do to help settle things down?Thanks!- I am not considered obese anymore!
I joined you today in that catagory! It IS wonderful, and another milestone met. I came on to make the same post, but adding on to yours is even better- Superbowl junk food and pre-op diet
Sorry! I would stay as full as possible on the liquids. Also, ice pops (low fat free, sugar free ones)were considered liquid on my pre-op. Maybe they might help. You can do this!- Old Newbie
Not quite there yet, I'm 56, and was banded 6 months ago. No time like the present to get started - Just for fun...what have you lost? I've lost...
