Starting Over - I did 8 months of Weight Watchers but the problem is the doctor I was seeing at that time made no notes of it. I was seeing him every 3 months for 2 years. (over a year before i got pregnant and during the pregnancy) And he never made any notes about my weight loss attempts. There is no documentation from an MD that says i was on a weight loss program. My midwife and naturopathic doctor have all kinds of notes in their paper work but BCBS doesn't accept these because they are not from a Medical Doctor with some fancy degree!! it is so frustrating that the information is right there for them to see but because it isn't the way they want it I am denied! SO FRUSTRATED!! wish i knew a doctor that could make some notes on some paperwork for me! hahahaha! oh well

Thanks everyone. I just hope i can stick it out at my job long enough to get approved! Ugh! I just dont know how to get the documentation they want. Just waiting to hear what my case manager wants me to do. Trying to stay strong but its hard! :/

Thats awesome! I am already 4 months into this and i dont even have a surgery date. I guess the insurance company would rather pay for all my meds and all the things that will go wrong later because of my weight instead of paying for one surgery. I feel so defeated.

Well when i called yesterday they said it was denied because in all of the 184 pages of medical history there wasnt enough documentation from a "doctor" saying i was on a weight loss plan supervised for 6 months straight! My WHOLE LIFE has been a weight loss plan!!! After i got off the phone i cried and cried and screamed and screamed! I am so disappointed, sad, and just beaten down. The worst part is that the possibility of this surgery is the ONLY THING keeping me at my current job. I need the insurance to get my surgery but it is a hostile work environnent and i dont think i can tough it out for another 7 or 8 months. :( Im at the end of my rope from every angle. I guess I'll see what my surgeon says.

When i flew at the end of june i ended up needing one and i thought to myself i am never doing this again! Im getting my surgery and getting to a normal weight!! I cant wait to start my new life! No more extenders!!!

Hopefully I wont have to take it that far. I am so ready to do this and start moving my life in a new direction! Impatient doesnt even begin to describe how I am feeling!

Its ridiculous! I called them today and after nearly 10 minutes on hold the guy came back and said it was still being predetermined. I plan to call every day until i get an answer!

I am 5'2" and i picked 136 as my goal weight. Its the highest weight i can be with a healthy bmi. Sounds good to me. I also have a dress hanging up that i want to fit comfortably in. Its a very cool gauze type dress that is tie dyed. That is my motivation! It is a ladies size XL. Hopefully next spring it will fit!

Exactly! I mean its not like they didnt have the paperwork. They did! All they had to do was LOOK AT IT!!!

Its just frustrating that they had all the paperwork they needed right there and couldn't seem to see all the information! I could have been approved already! sigh.... it just seems like every day that goes by is one more day I have to suffer. I know it will be approved eventually but I am so impatient! lol

What a bunch of lazy people. We submitted ALL of my paperwork and whoever reviewed my claim just looked at the first page and denied it. They said I needed to give them the H&P and 6 months of supervised nutrition classes and I told them it is all there in the paperwork. So I called my case manager and told her what they said. She called them and went page by page. Writing down what page number all the info they wanted was on. Now it has all been RE-submitted and now I am waiting AGAIN!!! You would think they were capable of turning a few pages! Geez! Ok Rant over.

I had to take all mine out for gallbladder surgery. It was kinda weird to see all my jewelry in my hand. There was over 20 pieces!

After the birth of my son I took something called Arnica Montana. It is usually a gel for sprains and strains. It helps with swelling and bruising. They also make a pill form. They are teeny tiny pills. I only needed one dose after the birth of my son and I felt great. Of course I had a very easy, all natural delivery but it may help. I'm planning on taking it after my banding surgery as well. Hope that helps! Good luck
