  1. I was wondering if anyone else cheats on the liquids before eatting, and how do you think it's affecting you? I drink water before I eat if I'm super hungry, not so that I can eat more, but it "primes" my pouch if it's been a long time since the last meal. If I don't do this, I will get sick. I have to admit (because this is my only safe place to do be so honest), that sometimes I do drink liquids prior to a meal because it is a special meal, or I'm going out to dinner. It's a way for me to be sure that I won't get stuck or sick during dinner, which has happened and is very embarassing to vomit in a public restroom. I don't think my band is too tight, I don't get stuck or sick often. What;s your experence with liquids affecting your band?
  2. I haven't posted on any forum for several months now, I've been doing good! I am down 40lbs and was banded 2/17/12. I think I'm a bit unique here in that I have a 5cc band. Also I have only had 1 fill. (which took two appointments 2 weeks apart). I've learned to eat only when I'm HUNGRY! My "tightness" or restriction varies on some days which is a bit annoying. Like lots of people, I'm usually tighter in the morning. I've been getting myself into trouble when I try to push myself to go longer before eatting, which I know I shouldn't do.. not only do I physically feel weakened but then when I'm ravinous I want to eat a ton! So I end up eating too fast and/or too much on a stomach that is "tight", not a good thing!! One way to avoid this is to obviously eat before I get that hungry. Also, I was wondering if anyone else cheats on the liquids before eatting, and how do you think it's affecting you? 4. I'm glad I'm not the only one! Sometimes after I eat I'm feeling so thirsty that I try to drink a bit of Water.... and whoops! I have to wait at least 20-30 min before safely having a bit a water if I don't want to get sick.. My challenge is drinking enough water/liquids throughout the day, but I've only been banded for 2 months, so I hope I still have yet to figure everything out.
  5. At first I wondered the same thing, when asked, "Do you feel restriction?" at the doctor's appt, I said " I don't know, I don't know what it is supposed to feel like." She then told me (as she was doing the fill, my second one) that I might feel gassy, feeling like I need to burp. Then after another .2ml into the band (during the same appt), we both heard the bubbling sounds from the Barium. That helped her to know that I didn't need anymore saline. My second fill was at the end of March, and since then I have become more comfortable knowing when I'm full, I usually feel like I need to burp, and have pressure. There have been a few times when I though I could eat more but the food did not agree and it came back out... I think I'm in my "sweet spot" now because I can't eat over about 1/2 cup food at a time until I feel pleasantly full. Once and awhile it's close to 1 cup but that's toward the end of the day. One thing I've been struggling with is drinking enough water. I can't drink with food or right after, it will make me sick. I know you're not supposed to drink prior to eating, but I personally have found that I only need to wait about 5-10 minutes after drinking water to eat and still get full quickly. In the end I guess we are all individual and so some things may work better for some, but not for all. GO FEBRUARY BANDSTERS! WE CAN DO IT!!!

  7. I am new to this forum, and to the site. I was banded Feb 17, 2012. My goal is a loss of 70lbs. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago. I'm feeling a little discouraged because I have only lost a total of 13lbs! I lost 18lbs right away, and then put on several pounds before my first fill. The scale is driving me crazy.. I know I shouldn't weigh daily but I can't help it! I see a little gain in the am and then feel terrible. But if I don't see the numbers daily I'm afraid I'll gain more by not being reminded of my weight daily. Any suggestions are welcome. I feel like I'm making excuses to myself and am tired of it. I wanted to post this because I needed somewhere to be completely honest. I also have only very recently begun an exercise commitment... I am trying to stay positive and motivated, I can not fail at this!
