I have always went up and down with my weight since my second child. At my lowest I have been 155 and my highest is what I am right now which is 249. In 2003 I had another child and was hit by a car right before I gave birth. I broke my leg and my knee, which kept me non weight bearing for 6 months and unable to do activities as normal for almost 2 years. Even after the 2 years I was still unable to run and constantly experienced pain in my knee. My weight was rising higher and higher each year. I had been trying numerous different diets and gyms, but still could not lose the weight. Then in 2011 I was giving some sad news, my orthopedic doctor told me that I had to seize all excercise and daily activities due to arthritis in my knee and no cartilage under my knee. She sent me to one of the leading cartilage specialist who told me that he could fix my issues, but a lot of my problems were my weight. In order to get my cartilage replacement surgery, I had to lose the weight. Until then he would not do any surgery on my knee. This made me very depressed, I am young and still have young children. To make matters worse my regular doctor was finding out that more health issues were arising due to my weight. She sent me to an information session and I began my research. My first choice was lapband, something not to serious, but will still help me to lose the weight. I made my appointment to meet with Dr. Chung and she explained to me that the lapband is not as successful. Her goal was to get the weight down fast and get me into my surgery for my knee. She recommended the Sleeve. She spent time going over the whole procedure and the pros and cons. Finally I have decided on the Gastric Sleeve surgery! I am so excited! I have started tasting the different shakes, I quit smoking on 3/14/2012, and have started preparing for my surgery. I have to have one more test on Friday 4/13/12 and then I can schedule my surgery!
