  1. Not like I have helped, after being banded in April I didn't really come back much. Life has been stupid busy over the last 5+ mo and I seem to have lost track of the band. Weightloss stopped about 5 mo ago and recently it started coming back on. A pound here, a pound there. Its amazing how good the mind is as diverting attention away things like "well its still 60+ pounds off, don't worry about it right now". A few days ago I said enough is enough and started back / revisited a number of things. Its time to end the "I will get back on track tomorrow when things settle down". I have noticed over the past few months that Bars are the devil for me, I would use them for meals, Snacks, etc. The calories add up fast when eating them. Eating the junk food after the holidays with the mentality of "well once its gone, its gone" is also a big no no, other things pop up and the food comes back into the house again. It seems Ice cream and cake have no real issue getting past the band. That said, I peaked at 75 pounds lost, and am sitting back at the 65ish mark, the 5 month plateau is over! How is everyone else doing?
  2. I was in the same boat as you (granted I have insurance that would have covered it but I didn't want to spend a year preop). I am rather healthy, no issues from the weight yet but I knew it was a mater of time. You can't haul around an extra 100+ pounds for most of your life and not expect health issues. I hit the "enough is enough" stage about a month ago and decided to self pay. I was banded on the 3rd and so far so good, 30 pounds down from the Preop diet start 3 weeks ago. FYI In the Southern California area well recommended Dr's with 12 months of fills / checkups post op are running 12-15k and from what I have read its a good bit cheaper in other parts of the country and ALOT cheaper if you are up for going down to Mexico. Good luck on your quest

    April Bandsters!

Day 3 postop and things are doing much better. I haven't needed pain meds in 24 hours, I still have "something" that is a bit painful from time to time. perhaps gas pain, almost feels like too much pressure. I hope everyone else that has been banded is doing ok and for those of you that haven't all I can say is it isn't the end of the world The day of was shockingly quick and easy. Now for the journey to begin. As everyone has said the band isn't a magic and we all have alot of life changes to make. One of the first tests will be going to a family event this weekend. There will be sooo much junk food around, thankfully its still so close to postop that I can't eat any of it, however future events will be interesting.

    April Bandsters!

I was banded 10 hours ago. Overall it was ok, had a bit PITA time at the start as it took 4 shot to get the IV in and by the tird time was getting a bit dizzy / not feeling too well. As of now all I really am having an issue with is what I assume is gas pain and a really tight abdomen. but not the end of the world I haven't needed much meds. Goo luck everyone, I hope you all do well. Now for the next stage in life / learning how to use this new tool.
