  1. I was trying to find something different to eat as part of my clear liquid diet. I saw on one site that lactose-free supplements are okay for a clear liquid diet -- is this true? Because I'd welcome the addition. Thanks :rolleyes

    May 2007 Banders

Hey NVGirl! Good to hear from ya! I'm still on clears with the exception of Atkins shakes, but I can barely finish one. I must sip SLOWLY in order to prevent the gas-type pain. Recovery's been nice to me, and I'm already able to bend slightly over to pick up things on the floor (except for paper -- that incurs a kicking contest). Grats on the report! That gas pain is a ...well you know. A pain!

    May 2007 Banders

Something Scary happened, this morning. I sneezed! And my stomach rumbled and rolled for a good minute afterward. It was a soft sneeze, and I was able to catch myself for the brunt of it, but I'm kinda worried, now. Am I being too paranoid?

zHey ragdoll! Marsden was almost my surgeon, but I got switched to Felts -- and he did a great job I'm curious to hear how Marsden did for ya.
  5. at this point in time, I'd absolutely LOVE a bowl of mac n cheese. lol or i'd like to suck the grease off a slice of hot pepperoni....mmmmmm lol!
  6. How easy / hard is it to slip or flip? I'm being paranoid i think, but I'm worried about this feature.
  7. I'm not sure how a long piece of plastic with two tiny pieces of metal will set off the metal detector. Based on my experience, it will take a lot more than a lap-band.

  10. i'm checking now for the clear liq proteins -- so Isopure would count? Not that I could finish a whole bottle in a day ...but it would be a refreshing change from the norm...

I dunno, her hair looks the same on the shoulder -- but that would make sense if it was her "former" self.

    May 2007 Banders

I gotta tell y'all something funny. When i came out of OR - I was groggy as all get out, and they made me get out of the freakin bed for some ex rays w/barium. You know "drink this" -- the stuff that tastes like ear wax? Well I drank it, and they were like "hold this rail that's over your head" so I did. Then they were like "twist" and I did, all the while thinking "am I supposed to be doing this?" then she goes "okay miss williams you're good to go" and I'm like "wait I'm not miss williams..." the nurse goes "OH we're not that far ahead yet -- don't worry she's getting the lap band too just like you. Oh my freakin geez talk about almost have a coronary on the spot. LOL

    May 2007 Banders

I had mine on May 7th -- doing quite well, just a bit drugged on light meds. The weather in Abilene is wonderful for being stuck at home -- heavy clouds, rain, and some thunder. I hope everyone enjoys their experience with the band, as I hope to enjoy it too!
  17. Hey Lodum! I got banded on Monday, and so far I'm doing well. I think the worst part of the whole thing is that I can't lay down flat (I can't get up) and the gas! What the heck is that in my shoulder? lol. I mean how did it get up there? haha, well today is Wednesday and I'm actually doing well. Like I said it's really just the gas pain and my stomach growling that is bothering me. I'm the same with the food -- not really hungry. Just sipping on Water and liquids. Take care and Good luck!
  18. Hey there everyone! My name is Suzie, and I am in Texas. My BMI is 43 (weigh ~275). I'm taking a pre-op pic for this page I'm having my surgery done in Richardson. Dr. Felts is my surgeon, I believe. I meet him for the pre-op on the 30th, an will have the surgery on May 7th. This happened rather quickly. Insurance approved with no problems (I use BCBS Federal), and the date came all of a sudden as well so -- YIPPEE!!!! I went researching and saw a video of what the actual procedure looks like and ... sheesh that's scary looking. My Myocel thing starts Monday, if it comes in the mail on time. I found out about it a bit late and didn't expect to get it by then, so we'll see what happens with that. Well I'm tired so I'm going to end this intro. Take care, Suzie
  19. thanks Lori! It went fine, but I am a little sore and I am curious about whether or not we can "ice" it -- with the fake ice packs or whatever...
  20. Okay folks, I've officially been banded! I had it done yesterday in Richardson, Dr Felts was the surgeon. He said everything went perfect and that it was exactly how he expected it to occur. I ended up staying the night, since I live 3 hours from where the surgery was -- the Doc was pretty concerned about the idea of me going home right away, and I'm glad I did what he requested (stay the night). Signed a very excited Muse
  21. well here it is -- less than a day til I'm all tied up lol. i'm So looking forward to it. I have to remember nothing after 9pm and no Water after midnight. eek lol well i'm excited -- any recommendations as to what to get today to be ready for tomorrow? or links to threads that talk about it?
  22. :bored For some reason, I'm not really nervous about the surgery. I'm trying to see myself for what I am going to look like in a year. The funny thing is, I draw a complete blank. This whole thing went very very fast, so I am kinda shell shocked. I have preop on Monday, and between then and the 7th I need to complete a stress test. I've been losing significantly since I started the preop liquid diet. The diet may be why I am restless, sore, and exhausted. That's where I stand, so far.
  23. As of today, this is what i need to do: 1. stress test (i don't have the right form? this is what happens when the dr is in Richardson and I live in Abilene, i bet. lol) 2. get the items y'all suggested. 3. finish cleaning house so i have nothing to do for 2 weeks. 4. preop on the 30th 5. continue diet 6. surgery 05/07 (YIPPEE!!!) has anyone used Dr Felts?
  24. A quick update as to where I stand. I have to have a stress test (combo?), some blood work, and a chest x-ray before the surgery -- which is scheduled for the 7th. I'm a little worried, as I stated, that the Myocel arrival will be delivered later than needed and the surgery date will be moved back some. Other than that -- I am going to have to secure a ride. Ppppblh. That's the problem about having the doctor 180 miles or more away. I'm excited but nervous -- I've seen the vids of the surgeries and couldn't imagine being awake for that -- but I won't be so I'll work on not worrying. I want to live again and I look forward to having this tool to be able to again. I hate being fat / unathletic. I want to play sports and workout again and have my ABS like I did when I was 18. I was big then, 168, but I was "ripped" -- I loved bodybuilding and I dunno if this will prevent me from getting that shredded female muscle look -- but I will dang near go for it again. I so took advantage of that and let it slip away. But that's what this is for. WOOT!
  25. Meltini!! This is my first post, but I wanted to tell you, you and me both are getting banded on 05/07. I'm excited / nervous at the same time! So eek!!!!! Suzie
