  1. He said that with the sleeve, patients will lose 60% of their excess body weight. If I fall within this average, I'd lose about 125 pounds which will still categorize me as obese. He said "if that happens, will you be ok with that?". I am trying not to get hung up on goals and numbers. I just want to be healthier - be able to do more and enjoy things. If I loose 60% of the excess weight, I will be much healthier and THAT is my goal.

  4. Hi - I have been reading on this board for several months, but only found this group today. I have read the entire thread. Thank you to all who have posted to this group. I was beginning to think I was the only one who had so far to go. I lost 30 lbs on my pre-surgery diet over a period of 4 months. I had surgery 12/28 and weighed in at 337. I actually celebrated when my weight dropped below 300 lbs. By my 3 month followup last month I was at 287. I weighed at the gym last week, but it showed I was at 292 - I was upset, because I have been doing well and exercizing at least 2 times per week for an hour. However, I checked it with no weight on it and it didn't balance until the scale was at 12 lbs. I haven't weighed since then, but I plan to tonight at the gym (I'll check the scale empty before I weigh though). I know it seems stupid but I was so excited last week when I bought a pair of jeans at Walmart AND THEY FIT!!! I didn't have to go to the speciality store to get jeans. I can wear smaller sizes, but I don't feel smaller...I guess my brain isn't keeping up. I was in a size 30 jeans (tight) before surgery and am wearing a 24 now. I actually had to buy jeans because I couldn't keep my oldest small pair pulled up. It doesn't seem quite real though. Thanks for being here.
  5. Ask the doctor to give you your prescriptions BEFORE surgery. That way you can have them filled and at home when you get there. Stock up on Water and liquids. I had my surgery in December, stayed in the hospital 1 night. I had a friend pick me up and take me home since it is required. My doctor said that as long as I was on pain medicine, no driving, but I did not need any pain medicine and drove a little 3 days after surgery.
