  1. Welcome! Hope all goes well for you. I am starting my journey as well.
  2. Had the 90 minute visit with the nurse this morning and I'm scheduled for the sleep study this Thursday. Is it always this slow in here or am I just posting in the wrong forum?
  3. Got the nurse and NUT counciltation set. Nurse tomorrow and the NUT on the 26th. Anybody can tell me what you do at these visits? Sent from my iPhone using VST
  4. Well today I had my x-ray with the Barium and those tiny crystals. Not as bad as I thought but I am belching a lot. Then they took a dozen viles of blood from me so we will see how that goes. Now off to watch LSU baseball with my son. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  5. Hi, I am new to the board but have been reading quite extensively. I saw the Dr. (Dr. Perez, Thibodeaux La.)yesterday for my counciltation visit to get the ball rolling. My paperwork is getting done and I have to give blood tomorrow for testing. I've got my letter from the GP, Cardiologist, and waiting for the Psych letter. He told me the NUT would be calling for those visits to educate me further. A little about myself, I am 44 years old (male) with a wife and 19 yr. old son. When my son was born I was 6'-1" and weighed 185 lbs. Since then I have balloned up to 334 lbs. I was always active when I was younger playing sports and moving around. I ate like a horse and never gained an ounce. About 15 yrs ago I slowly started putting on weight, climbing to about 230 lbs. Then about 10 yrs. ago I hurt my back lifting a gas cylinder at work. This injury has plagued me since it happened. I was laid up for about a year, only being able to do desk work. I ended up moving into permanent office work with my company and have just been putting on weight at a record pace. This led to more back problems as the extra weight on my frame has caused me a lot of pain and immobility which hinders weight loss. My surgeon says he can fix my back, but if I don't get the pounds down, I will be right back to where I am in a couple years. So the alternative is to try WLS first and see if I can get some relief as well as fix other health issues related to my weight. My dad is a large man and was diagnosed at 48 with Diabetes when he had his first heart attack. He now sticks a needle in his body everyday due to the diabetes. I hope to avoid that by changing my lifestyle and eating habits. It seems if I do nothing I am only headed for a poor quality of life and I sure don't want that. Hope all goes well and I will post my journey along the way.
