All is well. I have completed all requirements today. I know they will be submitting soon. Just trying to see if anyone has dealt with this plan. How long to approve? Denials? Thanks in Advance Lisa

Debbie, I am glad I could have been some help. I have searched high and low just to see how today would have gone. It was great. If you are self pay then im sure after you get throught the steps to surgery form, then you will be ready. You would be a fast track patient. I was told last year I too was borderline diabetic and my main reason is my heart. I have had 2 open heart surgeries and need to get this wait off so I can live life. I am 22 years old and in nursing school. I am also at my heaviest weight. This year will be our year to turn our lives around for the good. It will actually be better than good. My appt went great! I came in turned my paperwork in and they gave me this 376 question form for the psychologist. Then he came and got me. We talked for 20 mins. Then I was weighed and pictures were taken. Finally I was in another room and spoke with Dr. Curry in the flesh. He just asked a few basic questions and told me after I was approved i would have to do a 2 week preop diet. Then insurance lady came in and explained what I needed to have for approval. The last person I spoke with was the Nutritionist. I started my appt at 3:30 and ended at 5:45 ish. It was very smooth and the staff was nice. I had all my questions answered. I think you will also have a great experience with them too. Lisa

Thankyou. My appt went well. Turns ou alll my insurance required is the right BMI and a psych evaluation. I completed both. They told me they would get back with me in 2 weeks and let me know when they submitted to insurance. I am pleased. I hope your paper work and appts get rolling and ready for surgery.

That would be nice to have surgery date but havent heard that happening on the 1st appt. Yes I live like 20 minutes away. Im just happy its starting today. I can finally say my Lap band journey is starting, and I will let you know the results later.

Christine0x0x, Sounds like things have gone smoothly enough for you. I hope the same for my self. The lady called me to confirm my appt had basically described what you are saying far as who I will see. It is basically going to a long afternoon appt. I dont know about the endoscopy, that does sound stressful. I know that I have to see my cardiologist. I think that and insurance may be my largest hurddle. Pray your surgery goes well!!

txdee it has to be your employer, they are the one who pick whats what on the plan. I am suprised by the things my insurance will cover i.e ( fertility) Ill take my blessing but for you...maybe you can squeeze in financing. I think its worth a chance for the sake of our lives. Yes he is my Dr.. I have my appt in a couple of hours. I am not sure if i will meet him today. I think so but no so sure.

Thanks for your words. At the seminar I went to a few months ago, they took our insurance information and they called me back a week later. They told me I had to do a 6 month diet, I found odd because of my plan. Sure enough they called a month later and the information was wrong. My plan (BCBS NY) required no diet. I was not even mad, but I was very happy. Well im off to my day that includes this appt today. Almost cant believe its here today and this is just my consult.

Well my appt is tomorrow. All I am sure of is they will be doing everything in one day, including Psych eval. I am nervous but excited too. I have been reading these forums and blogs for a couple of months searching for and idea of what to expect tomorrow. Seems like it could be anything. The scary part to me is the insurance, I do have coverage, I guess i have read so many "horror" stories. Anyways I think its wonderful there is a site like this. Seems there are a lot of supporive people on here. Any one else want to share their consult appt experience?? Thanks in Advance Lisa

I have my consult with him tomorrow! Im nervous but excied too! BTW i started to get the wed appt for the 25th but also ready to get i started. Hope it all goes well and plus I have heard nothing but good things abou him.
