  2. Very sad to hear Patrick Swayze died today.
  3. 242 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!
  4. Good morning, Violets. I'm up early for my hospital shift. Then Ethan comes at noon and then I have a church meeting in the evening. Laura.. I'm so horrified by the email about the murder. Your coworker and family are in my prayers. Suzie.. is your pool closed up? It's supposed to be 82 here today, so should be great swimming this afternoon. I'm hoping to keep the pool open for another week, if I can. PamELa.. hope you feel better today. Terry... where are you??? Off to have some breakfast and get dressed. I'm getting my flu shot today. I didn't get one last year, but they are free for hospital volunteers, so I think with all the flu predicted this year, I should be prepared. Everyone have a great day. Be good to yourselves.
  5. Good morning, Violets.. I'm up and getting ready for church. Had a good dinner at Kris's and walked over to their neighbor's to see the new house they're building. I'm anxious to hear how Grady and mom did last night. She was going to try and let him cry it out. He's getting up every couple of hours even though he's bathed, fed and changed. He just wants mommy and she's not getting any sleep. Sooooooooo last night was the big experiment. Hope she's not completely frazzled today. Off to get breakfast and then be on my way. Everyone have a great day. Be good to yourselves. Michelle said she couldn't get on here yesterday. She's on her way to N.J. to help out. Her MIL had a little set back and won't be coming home until tomorrow, so Michelle went to help out and her mom is at home with the kids being Michelle's clone. ((hugs)) Michelle!!
  6. 243 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!
  7. Good afternoon, Violets.. It's been a good day so far. I had breakfast with friends and then went to the support group meeting. Everyone was doing well and we had two new members plus I got a call from someone when I got home and they wanted to join also. I'm so glad I started the group because there was nothing for anyone before that. I came home and got my swimsuit on and jumped in the pool. I did some exercises and then floated around on the raft for about an hour. I actually fell asleep for awhile. Good thing it wasn't blazing hot or I would have been burned to a crisp. It's 74 out right now and was 45 when I got up this morning. The pool felt really good. We have probably a few more days of good weather and then it will start being cool during the day and I'll have to reluctantly think about closing up the pool for the season. The leaves are changing color here now. Cool nights and warm days will make them change faster. I'm not ready for winter except for our cruise in January, but that's a long way off. We're headed to Kris and Nathan's tonight for supper. I'll get some more Grady time. He sure is happier now that his two teeth are in and he eats baby food like he won't ever get anymore! He's still not sleeping like he should, but I think that's just his personality. I guess it's a blessing in disguise that Kris didn't go back to work. She would never be able to function at a job on the little sleep she gets. Off to enjoy the backyard a bit before we head to Kris's. Everyone have a great weekend!!
  8. 244 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!
  9. Long, but a good read.. Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio ... "To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more: 1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good. 2. When in doubt, just take the next small step. 3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. 4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch. 5. Pay off your credit cards every month. 6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree. 7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone. 8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it. 9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck. 10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile. 11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present. 12.. It's OK to let your children see you cry. 13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about. 14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it. 15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks. 16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind. 17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful. 18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger. 19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else. 20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer. 21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special. 22. Over prepare, then go with the flow. 23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple. 24. The most important sex organ is the brain. 25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you. 26.. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?' 27. Always choose life. 28. Forgive everyone everything. 29. What other people think of you is none of your business. 30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time. 31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change. 32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does. 33. Believe in miracles.. 34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do. 35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now. 36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young. 37. Your children get only one childhood. 38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved. 39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere. 40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's,we'd grab ours back. 41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need. 42. The best is yet to come. 43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up. 44. Yield. 45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."
  10. I have everything on my mp3 player from Clay Aiken to Wicked, to Kiss and Josh Groban. Nobody could tell what kind of music I preferred if they listened to my stuff. I love all music except Rap. I just LOVE the new commercial that plays Super Freak by Rick James. Loved it in Little Miss Sunshine.. Kiss and Aerosmith get me moving. Along with Doo Whop from the 50's. Oh man, I'm dating myself here. I also groove on Itsy Bitsy Spider as well as Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes. Go figger.
  11. 245 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!
  12. Good morning, Violets.. Typical late summer day here. 53 degrees, foggy and wet, but supposed to get warm by afternoon. Ethan will be here around 11 today and we'll swim after lunch. He leaves at 5 and Grady arrives at 6:30 for an hour or so while his parents work out. Suzie... I KNOW!! Your guys really did a number on us! Tigers can't afford to lose that many at this time of year. They need to be peaked for the playoffs. Laura.. I know of which I speak... just don't pickle yourself like I did!! arghhhhhhhhhh (but I did get my girl after 2 boys!!) Grady has his two teeth in now and seems to be sleeping better. I know he's a much happier baby. When he was here last night, it was all smiles and happiness. He's much easier to take care of that way. Nothing on the agenda today except babysitting. Laundry is done and house is relatively clean. So I'll just get some more good tanning time in while Ethan swims around the pool. It's a great way to spend an hour or two. Time to go forage for breakfast. Everyone have a great day. Be good to yourselves!!
  13. Darn good advice, Doc. PamELa!!!
  14. 246 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!
  15. Ummm I posted that yesterday... that was the count for yesterday... Chill, woman!!!
  16. Good morning, Violets.. Ethan is here and we're just waiting until noon to go swimming. Haydee, the Bobster reminded me last night that we had to change our wedding plans because the pastor had booked two weddings at the same time. We had to change our time to later in the day and we had already had our invitations printed. The church paid for the reprinting and luckily the reception was at the church and we could change the time with the caterer. Things happen, you just have to be flexible. Glad your duplicate was understanding. Glee and Community are supposed to be the two new shows to watch this year. Anybody know when the regular time for Glee is?? The lady that is the coach played Julia's sister in Julie and Julia.. she was a hoot there too. I woke up this morning thinking about things to do with the garden before next year. We are going out of town next weekend and will pass by a great garden place. Bob wants a new fountain and I need a couple more plants and art work. It's a never ending project!! Ok.. here's the solution to our eating problems.. if we could just keep a high level of stress in our lives, the band will do the rest. Course I didn't say it would be a fun time.. just a losing weight time! Off to do some laundry and clean a bit before we hit the pool. Everyone have a great day!!
  17. 247 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!
  18. I have tons on Facebook...
  19. Can't you have one in the early afternoon and one in the evening??????? Or is the whole wedding and reception there?? YIKES!!!
  20. Wooo hoooooo!!! I'm really excited. 3 ladies from Shelter came over today to look at my gardens and they want me to be a part of the Garden Walk next year!! I have soooo much work to do between now and July 9th next year!!!
  21. (((HUGS)))) to Mom, you and the pugs today, Laura.
  22. Good Morning, Violets.. Slept in till 9 today which was nice, but I slept like a baby last night...... up every 2 hours. I had songs running through my head from rehearsal and was thinking about some church stuff and that kept my brain racing. Joe just called and Ethan will be here at noon so I'll have a swimming buddy today. it's chilly out now, but supposed to get up to 78, so the pool will feel really good. I have choir rehearsal tonight and a big church meeting after that. I just wish this pastor thing was settled once and for all. It's making me so uncomfortable to be in the middle of it. Off to get some breakfast and clean things up a little bit before Ethan arrives. Everyone have a great day.. Be good to yourselves!
  23. Woo hooo.. isn't it fun??!! Grady is trying to crawl now. He's got it almost down, just has to figure out what to do with the arms. He kinda scoots backwards now. He officially has two teeth and is still not sleeping through the night. I told Kris to call the doc and see if this is normal. I don't remember any of my kids having as much difficulty sleeping as he is having.
  24. Not Michigan! I read it a couple of years ago.
  25. Thanks for the update, Roomie.. Continued prayers for your MIL and family. Hopefully the worst is over now and she can concentrate on getting out of the hospital and back home. That's awful about the epidural!!!!! It's certainly a difficult job when the child becomes the parent/caregiver. Been there, done that. It's rewarding in some ways, but very difficult in others. Just got back from singing rehearsal. It was a good one. I think it's going to be a great concert the end of the month. Ethan doesn't come tomorrow.. no work for his dad. So I'm going to spend time in the pool by myself and get some more tan. I've never, ever had a tan like this before and I'm enjoying it. Everyone have a good evening. Sleep well. Suzie.. who's going to win the ball game????
