I am getting banded mid-April and want to know how I should feel physically the following 2-3 weeks post surgery? I have asthma so I am concerned. Thanks everyone!

Your the best Violet! I really needed to hear this. I should be getting banded mid-April. How did you feel two weeks post-surgery? Any chest tightness?

So how have you been doing since surgery? This is another concern I have......how do you feel the following two weeks after surgery? Does your throat or esophageal area feel swollen or sore?

Christina, thanks for taking the time to respond to my concerns. I deeply feel that if I do not go through w/ this lap band procedure I'll end up "going under" for something else like a heart attack or stroke. My weight is at an all time high this year. I was cleared w/ the medical director last week from True Results to have surgery so I am looking at getting banded mid-April. My first c-section back in 2000 was under general and I simply hate how shallow my breathing was that day upon waking up. I have developed asthma since then and I am afraid "going under" will cause me pneumonia post operatively. I am FORCING myself to stay positive and look at all the benefits the band promotes. Thank you for your support!

Allison thanks for such an inspirational post. I will be banded sometime in April 2012 and I am a little scared but I know in the end it will be sooooooo worth it!

You go girl! I am using True Results- San Antonio. Today I completed blood work and nutrition. Insurance would not cover procedure.....but my income tax sure did! In the end this will all be worth it! :ph34r:

HAHA! That is where I am right now,"When I put my mind to something....I can get it done!" Right now no matter how scared I am, I will still go through w/ this. I am very adamant about losing weight. I just turned thirty-five and have two small kiddoes that need me around for a loooooooooooooong time!

OMG! That is craaaaazy because that is basically what happened to me! They had to knock me out during my c-section to and I hated the way I felt coming out of the general anesthesia! YUCK! UGH! That is the part I dread the most. LOL! And I feel the same exact way regarding being in control. I hate not being able to be in control or out of my element because it scares me. I prayed about it yesterday.......I know this surgery is what my body needs. You know for me personally my view on having this surgery is that I will be healthier and be able to be around for my two kids longer. I already have hypertension and kidney scarring so if I can ease up the job for my poor kidneys to do less work by dropping some weight then I will......

Thank you for your input. I barely received a consult today to schedule w/ neph. My right kidney is fine but I am very concerned about left kidney scarring. MRI says "stable cortical thinning in posterior pole of left kidney possibly from prior UTI". I feel in my heart this surgery can only benefit me. Today I did my blood work and nutrition consult at True Results. So tomorrow my chart w/ labs should be on the medical director's desk to say yay or nay! I hope it's a yay. I thought I was automatically scheduled for surgery at the beginning of April 2012 but today I learned I may need clearance w/ neph. Wish me luck!

Hello everyone! I am scheduled to have lap band sometime in April 2012. Does anyone know if I can get lap band if I have kidney damage. My left kidney has scar tissue and my right kidney is great. One doc said my GFR is at 82 and another said 101. Any input would help! Thanks!

Marner1500, lol, you sound just like me. Yeah for the most part I am a BIG, FAT chicken regarding general anesthesia. My surgery will also be out patient. Has the band affected your asthma in anyway if I may ask? Thanks journey4me for your input!

Hello everyone! I will be banded sometime at the beginning of April 2012 and am very concerned about having general anesthesia. I would appreciate anyone's input on what to expect before and after surgery regarding general anesthesia. I have asthma and am concerned regarding how the anesthesia can affect my asthma. I am very excited to take this journey and hope to achieve my goal weight. I decided to get banded due to health reasons and I don't think my poor body can handle 210 pds on this 5'3 frame. My goal is 125 but I will be happy if I simply made it to 140 pds. Everyones input and suggestions are always welcome. Thanks everyone and have a blessed day! Georgiana.
