Cathy, this is GREAT! You're entering a whole new phase of your life, where you'll be more energetic, feel happier and healthier than you have in YEARS! This is a fantastic opportunity for you to have a look at your life and really embrace the changes that you've been making, all of them things that will just keep you getting better and better. If you have to feel sorry for yourself today, go for it, but you're going to look and feel better at 50 than you looked or felt at 40, which is a HUGE thing! So yeah, wallow if you must, but tomorrow, get back on the scale and get your head back in the game...!!! And... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Great news for your DH's! I saw my MD for my annual check-up today, and told him how grateful I was that he'd recommended the lap band. I'm down 102 pounds, much more energy, feel better about myself, knee pain is minimal, and my blood pressure (which was, amazingly enough, never really high, although had been edging upwards) was down to 110/78. And I started with a personal trainer today. She's great, I think. She's a former body builder, and a complete gym rat, but super nice and accessible. She's expensive, so I don't know how often I'll be able to see her, but I'm going to start with her and see how that goes. Between her and my shrink, I'm going bust rapidly. But getting healthier!

I love Greek yogurt, too - denser, richer than normal. I get the Trader Joe's Fat-free (or maybe Lo-Fat, I do not know) yogurt; I get the honey flavour, add some fruit preserves and a sprinkle of granola, et voila - dessert! It works out to about 160 or so calories, with, I think, 14 g of protein.

Sharona - smart of you to take the calorie hit you KNOW, rather than to pretend you're being good while grazing! I've finally updated the headshot that goes out when I do interviews or for reviews - I'm down 100 pounds, and I don't look THAT different, but I'm definitely looking better. Here's an interview with me, and my new photo: Interrogating Jonathan Hayes - Author of Precious Blood | CrimeCritics BTW, I don't talk about my band in public, although I figure at some point I will. I just know so many people I hate having to explain it over and over again, and to decide which people are close enough to know, and which I should just lie to.

I think it's actually easier just to select, copy and paste - that keeps it out of a floaty little box that the quotes come in. But welcome aboard, Bandana!

Harley? You could be in your 150's by May, if you really wanted...

SOme very nice scores here - particular props to Amanda, who's clearly using the energy from the challenges she's facing to drive weight loss, and not just giving in and eating. Bandana, Englishmen can never be described as "a hoot". KPod is K-Podski, one of our fellow bandsters. And as for THE CLAW, you must see for yourself: http://www.prowebsurfer.com/public/toolbar/content/images/0/0/0/3/2/0003231/1784/STOP%20for%20me!%20It's%20the%20CLAW.jpg

Go, Amanda! I weighed in this morning, and as expected, am up 1 lb from yesterday, but still at 100 pounds lost - the slogan STAYS! Oh, I should update my number.

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
Friday, everyone! Time to weigh in... I'm a bit worried - yesterday was a bit of a blow-out day. I let myself go. I wish I'd done that AFTER the weigh-in!
-
March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
It's pretty straightforward - each Friday, we force ourselves to get on the scales and then announce our net loss (or no change, or gain) for the week. When we hit a particular milestone (25, 50, 75, 100 etc pounds lost), we add that behind our weight. All of these are charted in a separate thread, the Shamrocks Friday Weigh-in Thread or something similar title-wise; this Master Thread is more for talking about stuff (even crowing about our loss). If you weighed in last week, just weigh in Friday and let everyone know how you did - to the victor belong the spoils...

Hey, Carrie - how great to suddenly discover another chatty Shamrock almost a year later! Great news on your band finally getting in gear. Maybe a good first step for the whole exercise thing would be to get yourself a pedometer; I picked up an Omron one from Amazon.com and it's amazing. Notice how much you're walking, and see if you can increase that. if you're living in TX, you probably do a lot of driving, but perhaps there are ways you can walk a bit more: you'll find that seeing how many steps you've walked each day will help push you to walk further. I always walk a minimum of 3 miles a day... And you should think about joining us on our Friday weigh-ins.
