  1. My friend is always a few weeks late after surgery. I was banded last Saturday, and Aunt Flo decided that this was one party she wasn't going to miss and showed up on Wednesday. I hope it won't end up going on for a super long time... But your body technically doesn't NEED all these periods, so I wouldn't worry about it. It'll correct itself in its own time.
  2. The gas pain was definitely the worst part of the whole experience. I dont know how I had totally missed any mention of it when I was reading up beforehand either... it came as a shock to me. I was insisting to the nurses that I was going into cardiac arrest, since my left shoulder was on fire. But I am now 8 days out and can't feel it anymore. I was banded last Saturday, and I think by this Thursday or so the pain had mostly gone away. So hang in there! I found a heating pad helped me a lot, moreso than the Gas-X did. Also, the nurses at the hospital recommended Peppermint tea. I didn't try it but they swore by it.
  3. Oh and I am trying to have some water and some cranberry juice here and there throughout the day as well, maybe that would help you.
  4. I am on the liquid diet too and had the hunger pains really bad after being banded. I wasn't hungry at all for the first two days and then after that I had to drink something every couple of hours at least or I was ravenous. This does seem to be getting better day by day though. I can go a little longer between drinking. I am only on day 6 now, but already I am drinking just three times a day and not much at a time. Yogurt for Breakfast, Protein shake for lunch and Soup for dinner. So far so good anyway... I was definitely surprised about how bad the hunger has got during this first week, wasn't expecting that at all. But given how I feel now I think if you just stay strong, it will get better fast.
  5. What, sticks out? That doesn't sound normal... I am five days out and can't feel mine at all. Just the stitches.
  6. I am 3 days post-op. I am on a liquid diet for the first two weeks, but that includes Protein shakes, yogurt, fruit smoothies, Soups... anything you could have through a straw, they said. Then I will move on the pureed foods. 3 days in and I too am over soup. I look forward to at least getting mushy food...
  7. I had my surgery in the UK on Saturday morning, and I flew out of there yesterday. About a 3 hour flight or so. The doctor wanted me to stay for a few days in case anything was wrong. The flight itself was absolutely fine, some gas pain but nothing too bad. But with all the walking through the airport, I really would not have wanted to do it any sooner than 3 days post op.
