  1. I am about 3 weeks post op, and I am wondering how long the swelling in my abdomen will last. Does anyone remember how long before you stop feeling "pudgy"?

    So Very Full

I am with you on the uncomfortable fullness. It lasts and lasts and I only eat about 2 ozs. I can't wait until my stomach gets used to all this. AND stops with the gurgling!
  4. I used to be able to eat what I wanted, when I wanted, but now it is so strange to barely be able to eat 4 spoonfuls of refried beans! My stomach growled so much I was beginning to wonder if this would ever end. I am looking forward to eating solids again (shrimp is my fav) but so worried that all the foods I used to love will no longer be tolerated by my sleeve. I guess I just have to adjust and get used to it, but it's strange when so much of my life is centered around food. We celebrate around it, it was a way to take time to greet friends, and just an enjoyable thing to do. I think I will have to find new hobbies. I am down 20 lbs from when I first weighed in, but now I have stalled. Ok, I have to keep telling myself to stay away from the scale. On a better note, I have to wear belts with my work slacks because they are falling off my waist. WOO HOO!

2 Weeks And The Drain Is Still In

I had the sleeve on December 20, and after my 1 week post op appt, the doc felt that there was still too much blood in my drain tube and said I had to keep it in another week (sigh). I can't wait to get this out because it is such a pain trying to exercise with this little grenade bumping up against me all the time. I see the doc tomorrow, so I hope he takes it out! On another note, I have stalled in this second week. I have read that this might occur, so I am hopeful that the cycle will break soon, but it's hard not looking at the scale every day. I lost 10 lbs pre-op and another 10 lbs the week after my surgery, but NOTHING since then! Oh well.
  6. MissCastro, I did the same thing. I cried and started regretting what I did. But I after hearing everyone's stories, I am hopeful. I thank everyone for their support. I think I would go crazy without it.
  7. Hello everyone! I am new to this site, but I just wanted to get some thoughts on post op recoveries. I had the sleeve done on December 20th, and was in the hospital for 3 days. I had little problems getting up and moving about, but each time they gave me meds, I felt so nauseated and vomited them back up (even when they gave me Zofran). I am home now, and am barely tolerating liquids and the gas pain is horrendous. I keep asking myself why I did this - but I know I did this for my own health and for my children. It's so hard right now to see beyond what I am feeling, but someone please tell me it gets better!
  8. Thanks, everyone. I hope you are right. I will buy some GasX strips today. Problem is that I can't keep water down and I was wondering if that was normal as well. Happy to know I am not the only one going through this and having doubts and that I will realize this was worth it!
