  1. My surgery is scheduled for Feb. 8th- regular lap band. The surgeon never mentioned plication but she's a specialist in this with tons of experience, so hopefully it's the best choice. I'm going with the Realize band only because the surgeon mentioned it's a little more forgiving. I took that to mean there is a little more leeway if you overeat so as not to cause immediate vomiting/reflux.
  2. Mine also requires the 6 months of continuous doctor visits. My 6th appointment is next week, Jan. 17th. Today I had my long pre-op visit with the surgeon and if all goes well, surgery is scheduled for the 8th of February. I also have to lose 4 lbs by Feb. 2nd, my pre-op visit- if I don't....no surgery. The purpose of this is to reduce "fatty liver syndrome". I start the modified protein shake diet on Jan 25th- you have two protein shakes daily, plus one meal of 4 oz. protein and green vegetables. I think I can do it! I'm starting to get excited and anxious...have to lose those 4 lbs or else! Wish me luck, people!
  3. I just got scheduled for Feb. 8th! Go Feb. bandsters! We rock! Plus my birthday is Feb 23rd so hopefully I'll have lost some poundage by then. I'm excited! Re: the Facebook group- does anyone see that you belong or make posts? Because I really wasn't planning on announcing my surgery to the entire world.... Any one know the answer on this? Thanks, Marianna
  4. I am going to do it on Feb. 8th. I have been on diets all my life and never could stick to one permanently, so I'm excited to do this. The surgeon told me today that my only regret will be that I didn't do it 10 years ago!
  5. Have a great time on your date! You look very nice in your pic! I am pre-surgery (date is 2-8-12 for the surgery) and also weigh 222 lbs! I have to lose 4 lbs. prior to the surgery (hope I can!). So how are you feeling and doing with the eating? I just found out about myfitnesspal.com today. Please add me. My screen name is angeloudi99.
  6. Mine was an endless test of 370 questions. My hand got so tired bubbling in the answer sheet that my daughter had to finish it for me. They kept asking the same questions over and over in slightly different ways. Then there was a phone interview a few weeks later. I passed, so there was no problem!
  7. Hi everyone! I am going through the insurance company hoops prior to scheduling my surgery. Humana requires 6 months of doctor-supervised weight loss (not doing real well with that- only down 4 lbs. with the 6th visit in mid January), a psych consult (done), visit with surgeon and dietitian which are coming up January 9th. I am getting excited, but am nervous about the 2 week pre-surgery liquid diet, the 2 week post surgery liquid diet, the 2 weeks of pureed foods, then the 2 weeks of tiny amounts all before the first adjustment at 6 weeks post-surgery. My surgeon said that it is possible not to lose any weight until the first adjustment is done. Is that the case with most of you? In any case, I am happy to have found this group and hope that the whole experience will be successful. I can't wait to fit into some non-plus sized clothes! Marianna
