  1. Most gyms will have a 30 minute circut of machines, that's a good place to start if you've never lifted weights before. Spend some time on each machine and take the time to read the plaque so you know the correct form. Form is more important than how much weight you're lifting. After a while, you'll start to feel more comfortable and you'll have favorite machines you'll like to spend more time on.
  2. Thank you for this post! What a great story and inspiration for the rest of us!
  3. Thanks everyone!! I hadn't thought of the tuna packets, that's a great idea!! Thank you for the great ideas
  4. I'm taking the kids on a long roadtrip to Disneyworld in 2 weeks. Ordinarily, we'd load up the car with beef jerky, candies and chips for the 18 hour drive. I'd also usually pack peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and chips in a backpack for lunches while at Disney....however, obviously that won't work with my lapband. I'm having a hard time thinking of good, nutritious lapband friendly foods that would travel well without refrigeration and that I can pack for snacks and lunches while at Disneyworld. Any suggestions??
  5. Same here. I was banded on the 16th and yesterday was fairly good but today is the first day I've felt halfway back to normal. It's gets better and better each day, promise.

Wow! What an inspiration!! I've always wanted to run a marathon. I was just banded last week so I'm definitely still in healing mode, but your story is such a great inspiration for what is possible if I put my mind to it. Thanks for the post!
  7. How soon after surgery should I expect to be able to drive?

  9. I just got a call from my doctor and scheduled my surgery for 12/9! I'm so exicted!!! I wanted to let everyone know how helpful everyone's stories have been in helping me decide to do this for myself and knowing what to expect. I'm so excited to start this journey and would really appreciate everyone's support. Thanks!
