    Denton Area bandsters meeting

It was nice to meet all of you. As the "newbie" on the block, it was a good source of information. Looking forward to June!

    Hiccups vs. burps

I burbed today!!!! Today is day 6 since my surgery. I just opened my mouth to say something and it came right out. It was quite embarrassing (as I was at work) but I was so excited and it felt so good I got over the embarassment pretty quickly. I did forget to try and extend it as was mentioned above. I was just too surprised. The pressue in my chest also beginning to lessen more and more. The walking does help. Yesterday, sitting at my desk most of the day, it was hard for me to stand up straight when got ready to go home. Today, I'm taking a walk every 30 minutes, so far so good. Sending burp wishes your way!

    Denton Bandsters meeting Thursday

Hi Richard, I live in Flower Mound and was banded on Feb. 28th. I would love to attend one of your dinners. Please let me know when you schedule your next one. Thanks, Dawn
  5. I was banded on 2/28 and I tried all of the above as well. I found that if I laid on my left side (with a pillow under my tummy, since that is the really sore side) it helped. I don't know if it moves the gas or what but it seemed to work. I also found that Milk of Magnesia worked much better for me than the Gas-X. Be careful how much you take, it can have you running (or walking very quickly) to the restroom.

    Hiccups vs. burps

I was banded on 2/28 and I am having the SAME issue. Those hiccups are painful. I just feel like I have so much gas and I can feel it moving around in my chest but it refuses to come out in a burp. Does it feel like you have pressue in your chest as well?

    Newly banded

The gas thing really is more painful than the surgery, which seems crazy to me. Milk of magnesia helped me with the gas much more than the gas-ex. Just be careful not to take too much then you will be running (or at least walking very fast) to the restroom. Deep breaths also help, as does the walking. I think I will try the heating pad next. I have found myself much more hungry than I anticipated. I'm on liquids but have no idea how much I should really be consuming at a time. Could be I'm not taking in enough, but I'm scared to drink to much. I guess that all works it's self out. Best of luck to you!

    Newly Banded

I was banded on the 28th and the hunger is getting to me too. I'm scared to eat very much at a time but it's hard to remember to take little sips. I'm sticking with the liquids, but I'm leaning toward the thicker ones. It will be worth it though! If it was easy, then we wouldn't be near as proud when all is said and done!

    Getting nervous

Jennifer, I'm having my surgery today. I am pretty nervous hence the reason I am here reading instead of sleeping! I'm also very excited. I consider this the first day of the rest of my life. There is so much great information on the site. I already consider this part of my support network and I'm not even banded yet. Good luck to you. Keep us posted on your journey. Dawn
  10. I just wanted to say hello. I have been reading like crazy in preparation for my surgery tomorrow. I'm very excited and a little nervous. The liquid diet has been very difficult for me, but I see that others have suffered through it. That gives me hope! Dr. Jayaseelan is doing my procedure at the North Texas Surgery Center. If anyone has used him, I would like to hear your experience.
