I am 51 and have not been heavy all my life. I have gained my weight primarily over the last 10 years and it seems no matter what diet I try, I can't seem to lose it. I lose some and then I gain it back and more. My health has deteriorated in the last 5 years. I have had high blood pressure since I was 30 - even though I was thin then. January of 2008, I had a heart attack. I am on multiple medications for thyroid, gout, blood pressure, cardiac and cholesterol. So far I am not diabetic, but I know it is just a matter of time unless I do something. My kidneys are starting to fail. To top it all off, I have fractured 2 different bones in the last year.
I went to the Lap Band information session this past February and knew right away I needed to do this. I have continued to try to lose weight with little success. I am scheduled for Lap Band surger on November 2, 2011. I am just a few days away now. I have started my pre-op diet and have actually been losing a little. I am excited to get started on this new life. I want to be thinner and healthier again. I can't wait to be able to post an "after" picture.
