    New Guy...

Hello to all, I am a young guy at 27 and am trying to get my health back on track. This April I weighed in at 416 and was finally fed up with my weight. I am an active person and am always out and about doing but I have always found it hard to feel satisfied after eating. I am hoping the band helps me with that problem. Since April I am down to 372 and I have gotten rid off almost all red meat (once or twice a month now) and all white starches from my diet. I'm having my band placed tomorrow morning... (26 hours). I am currently on Clear liquids only and am STARVING! It doesn't help that I play Ice Hockey and that I just finished a game earlier. I find myself ready but a little nervous but excited about my long term health and how much faster I could be on the ice if I can drop the extra weight. Any other younger people/ younger guys on here?

    New Guy...

Feeling a bit better today... Having a hell of a time getting comfortable and falling asleep but that's not too unusual for me. down to 358 this morning. Today is my first night back to work so this should prove interesting. Goal for the day is a total of 16 oz. Protein shake and 1 liter of Water. Not going to lie, I'm craving food.... But right now its doable and im moving on nicely. looking forward to getting on my skates and playing some hockey possibly in 2 weeks.

    New Guy...

I'm ALIVE!!! Still rebounding but feeling better now... My surgeon said its hard to guess how to start off someone who is as big as I am. I'm able to keep my fluids down now and am able to intake about 4-5 oz. at a time. I feel a "wall" about then and if I try to push past it at all I get horrible hiccups and regurgitation. Now I am working on increasing my Protein shakes and getting all the Water I can in. But I am feeling better than I was the other day. Down to 361.

    New Guy...

Well sorry for the delay but yesterday went pretty rough for me. I came out of the surgery feeling ok and worked on sipping some Water and shortly after ended up with an acute case of hiccups. Very very painful hiccups that brought me to tears.... After the bout of hiccups disappeared I declined any more after but felt very uncomfortable but wanted to go home and rest. Upon arriving at home my discomfort increased to a point where my pain was intolerable and continued to have acute hiccup attacks causing alot of pain and I was unable to swallow any thing down. I had foamy productive burps and was all and all pretty miserable. I contacted my Surgeon and he asked me to try some warm tea and after I did I went straight to vomiting (also very painful). I was told to come in for a De-fill. I returned and he removed the 2ccs from my band and removed a bit of the discomfort. They believe my hiccups caused extra swelling closing of my already irritated stomach. Finnaly able to take my meds I have been passed out most of the last 10 hours but am feeling a bit better. I am no stranger to pain, and I have a very high tolerance (I have broken my pelvis and ruptured a testicle....... Yeah you read that right). But this pain is pretty intense. I am slowly pulling through the back side now but still looking forward to using this tool to help me get this weight off...

Bobby Ryan is THE MAN! I love that guy! The Hawks may not score on the PP but their affinity for scoring shorthanded keeps everyone on their toes. Sitting at work right now untill 5am... So hungry... Surgury tomorrow at 6am..

Hey I don't derby but I do play Ice hockey... My surgery is tomorrow and I am going to miss at least 2 games but am hoping to be able to get back out asap... My Dr. said take it easy but I know how much you love hockey so just go when you feel ready...... Im down 40lbs in the last 6 months and my skating has gotten much better! I cant wait to be able to get even more pick-up-and-go and be able to cut corners sharper!

    New Guy...

Well 1 for 2 isn't too bad.... Ill let it pass! My surgeon only required me to be on Clear liquids for 2 days prior to surgery... I am only going slightly crazy but am trying to stay focused on the weeks ahead!

    New Guy...

I've been captain of a team for almost 5 years... Being big has its advantages but I would far rather be a bit quicker and be able to get around better. At these weights I feel bad for my skates! My boys came out flat footed after Sharps goal, they were pulling for a single point not pushing to get 2... and after hearing about the Blackhawks recent shoot out problems I had a feeling they would be extra motivated to get that monkey off their back!
