I have been overweight since middle school.  Not severely overweight, but bigger than most of the other girls in my school. When I got to high school it got a little worse, so I took it upon myself to go to a weight loss doctor on the advice of another overweight friend.  I was on Phen-Phen for a few years, and it was very effective.  I think that was my first mistake.  I probably messed up my metabolism very early on.  Since my phen phen days, it has been a constant battle.  I have tried every fad diet and was able to lose weight, but keeping it off has been the hardest thing now. 
I am now 37 years old and have had my second child, and had severe post partum depression due to my mother passing away just days before I went into to labor.  Due to medication prescribed for the depression I didn't lose much of the weight that I put on from being pregnant.  I am only 15 lbs lighter than I was when I was 9months pregnant.
I started looking into the procedure in July when  the weight gain has truly depressed me even more.  I have been on the journey since then, I was sidetracked from the journey because I wanted to try it on my own, again, and did weight watchers with little success.  And also my husband doesn't want me to get it done.  We have only been married for 3 years and he doesn't think I am fat (I am so blessed!! he thinks that..lol) and thinks the procedure is extreme.  He really doesn't understand or see the struggle I've had before we got married.  I love and respect my husband and take what he thinks very seriously, but ultimately it is my decision.  I am leaning towards the surgery, and have a surgery date of December 12, 2011.  Still not totally sure if I will go through with it.
