  1. http://www.steuernolmclaren.com/fh/obituaries/obituary.cfm?o_id=1462795&fh_id=13112 to any of you that were following shirleys story, unfortunately she passed away over the weekend. She was a member of a private facebook group of lapbanders and we are dearly going to miss her. She was full of advise and optimism. We are still dealing with her loss and have not yet figure out why this happened to her...
  2. late check in for me, down 1 pound to 222. I'll take it. Larry, Love the "awards" very cute.
  3. long island iced tea
  4. its called plication. I had it done at the time i had my band. i was banded 10/25/11 and have lost 50lbs. the doc put some fluid in the band at the time of the surgery and I've had 1 small fill. He suggested the plication because not only does it make the stomach smaller it also helps prevent the excess stomach from coming up thru the band causing hernia and other problems. I truly feel the plication has been a huge part of my success so far. I feel full with a small amount of food and have never (knock on wood) has a stuck episode or had to vomit anything. I highly recommend this if you have the option. Good Luck.
  5. checking in 223 down 2
  6. im on the same page as shirley, i take 2 vita gummies (reg vitamin) and 2 fiber gummies (to help stay regular) and a chocolate chewable calcium, helps with the sweet cravings and i get my vitamins I have to add tho that I am honest, i log the cals and its an extra 40 a day. Lisa

  12. tracyc, for me it was 'emotional' after my first fill. i was told 2 days of Clear Liquids, 2 days of reg liquids and mushies on the 5th day. it was like having surgery all over again, i was sad to not be able to eat for nearly 5 days. but i've been very careful to follow the docs instructions and in that week i lost 5 pounds and it made everything ok. But, i'm not gonna lie I was HUNGRY for those 5 days. Remember that even with restriction liquids go right thru, so your gonna feel hunger. Wait and see how real food feels. Lisa
  13. b52- you always provide feedback that makes so much sense. Thanks for sharing.
  14. lol, yes, i was lucky to have mine during my surgery. when they brought me back for the pre op and they gave me the gown and told me everything off except the gown, i told the nurse, she have me a 'disposable' pair of underwear and a pad...so much fun!
  15. Late check in...added my official starting weight for the challenge:
  16. i was banded in october and havent hit a plateau yet, but i read something that i thought i would try when it came time, someone said to try the pre op liquid diet for a few days to kick start the weight loss. Sounds like something worth trying.
  17. i was banded in October, still having problems being regular. I take benefiber powder every day. But every few days I also need to take milk of magnesia. I believe part of the problem is the majority of my diet is Protein and very little carbs and fats. I really hope my insides straighten out...Good luck. Also, I drink plenty of Water and its still not enough to keep things moving.

  20. Hi fellow October bandsters, Things are moving along nicely for me. I was banded on 10/25 so tomorrow will be 2 months. I've had 1 small fill that seemed to help a little and Ive lost 38 pounds since the week before surgery when I started liquids. Nearly 40 pounds in 2 months sounds excellent to me!!! So glad I have this site and can stay motivated. Lisa

I did sample but only small bites from a few cookies, probably totalled only 2 small cookies. Last year probably ate nearly a dozen by time i was done baking for the day. Happy Holidays everyone!!!!
