  1. Hi all! I am six weeks post VSG and everything is going well! My only issue is I have had a sudden onset of what I am assuming is restless leg syndrome. Every night when I go to bed it takes me hours to fall asleep because of the extremely uncomforable urge to move my legs. I can be completely exhausted, and the urge is still there keeping me awake!! I am wondering if this is related to my surgery. Maybe the increase in my metabolism or something. Anyone else experienced this??
  2. I was discussing my surgery with a WLS nurse the other day and she was telling me that it is quite common for people to develop new addictions to replace their food addictions. Some people turn to unhealthy addictions: drugs, sex, etc.. I want to get some ideas of new areas to focus my attention (other than fitness). I don't think I will ever be addicted to exercize (although I suffer through what I need to). So what have all of you turned to????

    Protein Drinks...yuck

I have tried several of the protein drinks and had almost given up on finding on that I like. Then, somewhere else in this forum, I saw someone mention Nu-tek Pro5. I looked it up and found a nutrition store that sells it (there is only one in my state). I called the store and they were so super nice and knowledgeable. They mailed me a big bag of like eight samples along with a free shaker bottle!!! It was just a gut instinct when I read about this stuff, but I knew I would like it. And I was right!! I have loved every flavor I have tried! They also have a Nu-Tek Pro 5 HERS which says it also has added vitamins for hair, skin and nail health (it only comes in choc and vanilla though) but it is delicious! Worth a try! Hope this helps.

    Anyone tried popcorn??

I am trying to mentally prepare myself for the foods I wont be able to tolerate after I get my band. One I was especially wondering about is popcorn. Anyone tried this?

  8. My surgery is tomorrow. I know it is normal to be really nervous, but I just needed to talk it out. My biggest worry is pain. I have never done well with pain medications in the past. They always seemed to cause so much nausea that it was worse than the pain. I have only taken pain medications (anything stronger than a advil) only two or three times in my life. So, I need to mentally prepare myself for what to expect. I want to know exactly how much pain you all experienced. And please don't hold back, I need to be prepared. That is just how I work. Thank You!!
  9. Also, what kind of anti-depressant were you taking? I recently changed from cybalta to wellbutrin and the cymbalta withdrawal was torture. The dizziness was awful!
  10. Ok, so tonight I attended my first weight loss surgery seminar. I went into it with my mind made up that I wanted the Lap-Band. But after listening to the lecture, I am now wondering if the sleeve gastrectomy would be a better option. It seems to have a higher success rate (as far as weight lost and keeping it off) and according to the surgeon, less hunger. Has anyone else researched this and compared it to the lap-band? If so, why did you decide to go with the band? Help me sort through this!

    Sleeve VS Band

I am in your EXACT shoes!! I had been researching the band diligently, and even spend hours in the lap band forums. This was before i attended my first weight loss seminar. After that I was pretty convinced that VSG is the way to go. My biggest concern right now is insurance. It covers the band, but I don't know if it covers the sleeve yet. My first appt is thursday. I CANT WAIT!!! I don't know what I will do if I get bad news! Keep us updated in your pursuit!
  13. Hi, I just attended my first weight loss surgery seminar last night. I went into it covinced that I wanted the band, but after listening to the presentation, I am wondering if the sleeve is not a better choice. So to all of you that have made this choice before me....what made you pick the sleeve?
  14. I am scheduled to attend a lap-band info session on Monday. I want to be prepared with lots of questions. Can y'all suggest any to ask?

  17. Hi All, I am just in the beginning stages of this world. And while contemplating the pros and cons of this life changing procedure....one thing I am so curious about... All of us that will be or have taken the step to have this procedure are doing so because we have been unsuccessful with dieting in the past. But when I read the posts on here of all the veterans, you all sound llike health nuts! I am wondering what changes in you that gives you the willpower that you never had before? And the disclipine that it takes to keep it up. I know some of you may say that it is the benefits of feeling better or looking better...but why didn't that keep you sticking to it in the past? Please be patient with me and help me understand.

    Understanding the before and after

Thank you all soo very much! I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone with the "health nut" comment. I meant it as a complement! What you all say really makes sense! And have eased some of my concerns. I can't thank you enough. And....thank you in advance for all the future support I know I will be getting from all of you!
