Hi Jennye, My restriction is also so on and off and I drive myself nuts trying to figure it out. I just had my last fill brought up to 1.8cc and I'm so restricted now that my coffee won't even go down in the morning untill I have been up and about for an hour or so. I have been PBing 3-4 times a day even on liquids. I called Dr. yesterday and have to go in for unfill this afternoon. This has been going on since Feb 27th but I let it go because the wt. was falling off but the danger of constant BPing isn't good so I better take care of it. But before my last fill I had 1.5cc in band and woke up one morning and I has no restriction and didn't for 2 weeks and then bingo it was back 2 days before my scheduled fill and I was getting so discouraged so I went ahead with the fill. I am going to let him take me back down to 1.5cc and go from there. I was banded 8-4-03 and am down 55 lbs. 10 of it since my last fill. This band is wonderful thing but it sure is moody. Roxanne

Hi I was banded on Aug.4th and am down fluctuating between 35-40lbs. I go for a fill the 27th, I had the first fill in Sept. and had pretty good restriction until Jan. now some days I can eat to much except bread and some meats. Since Christmas I've pretty much have been at this wt. so it's time to start losing again. Roxanne

Hi Kelly, I was banded in Aug. also and have lost 40lbs. so am close to your wt. loss. I joined curves when my wt. loss was -35 and in a week lost 5lbs. I also can't handle much meat no beef or pork I live on fishsticks they seem to go down good and have protein. Good luck. Roxanne

I hate to admit it but I will I do not exercise. But feel I have still done ok for wt. loss -35lbs since Aug.

Hi, I had my one and only fill without fluro on Sept.19th he put in 1.25cc. I have had good restriction since then I go see him again on the 22nd and may ask for a tiny fill. My port is very palpable and he got into it with first try. He makes you stay in office awhile and drink water to make sure it goes down.

Hi Tammi, I also suffered from the shoulder pain after being banded it lasted 5 weeks but each day it gets less. Mine was actually better if I just laid still but as others have posted walking helped them.Hope you are feeling better soon. Roxanne

Hi,I carry a card in my wallet and I also had a copy of it put in my medical file where I Dr. My Dr. told me if I was ever in an accident and they did x-rays or scans they might not know what this object was and may preform surgery to try to remove it.I hope this never happens and if it ever did I hope one of my family members are there to speak for me.I do do alot of traveling alone due to my job so chances are if I was in an accident no one would be there to speak for me and I would have a Dr. that dosn't know a thing about me treating me.In my case I may get the medical alert band and wear it when I am traveling. Bill, Have you tried calling Iowa City or Rochester and asking if they have bariatric surgeons both are very good places and I would think they could refer you to a bariatric program.I agree with your health condition you need a very skilled surgeon with the right resources available to treat your comorbities.Let us know how you turn out. Hi Bill, Glad to see you found this site. I had my surgery in Sioux City by Dr. Rizk had it done 8-4-03 and am down 30 lbs. Like I told you on the other site it didn't come on overnight so I am being patient with the slow loss rather than have the other type of surgery.I was considered a lightweight with a BMI of 35.But due to 4 prior back surgeries and Diabetes I got approved by my insurance company.So that makes me a third of my way to my goal wt. already.I really didn't lose much until I had my fill on Sept.19th and I had 1.25cc put in and that made a world of difference can't eat much now.Ristriction varies in AM can't have a thing and by noon I can eat some and by supper I can eat about a cup to 2 cups.I have not had a slice of bread since my fill does not go down at all, but that is fine I can do without it.As for meds I'm on half of what I was pre-op for my Diabetes. I am also very restricted in the morning and still a bit by noon but by supper time watch out I can eat alot. I wish it was the other way around open in the AM and restricted in PM as after work I can sit and eat where as during the day I'm working and food is not available. I have 1.25cc in my band maybe it's time for another fill. Roxanne

Glad to hear your doing better,I also had the darn gas pain, it wasn't constant it would come and go, at times just laying down for 10-15 min. would help. I am 9 weeks post op now and down 25 lbs. so all the gas pain was worth it. Roxanne

Hi Babs, Congrats on your weight loss sounds like your doing great.I totally understand what you mean by level of restriction varies I've had a problem all day I have been very restricted all day till now,I tried to eat this morning and again at noon and nothing would go down which scares me cause I had taken my diabetes medicine and I needed to get something in me.I come home from work now and I think I could get anything down I ate a small beef stick without any problem.I have 1.25 cc in band.Keep up the good work.

Hi,I understand your fustration I went for my first fill yesterday and when I weighted in I had gained 2 lbs. from my last visit.I was banded on 8/4/03.I was very disappoined and let the Dr. know how I was feeling.He told me this happens frequently pre fill.He then gave me a 1.25 fill and said he would do another one in 2 weeks if this does not do it.Well I am very restricted now and fill the way I did post op but post op only lasted about 2 weeks and then I was able to eat anything and was hungry very often.I am not going to give up I have alot of money invested in this and feel that when I get the right amount of fill things will kick in.Please don't give up and give it a chance.Keep us informed on your progress.

Welcome Lenny, You will find much info on this sight. Thats funny that they kept asking if you were having a colonoscopy some people may have not known the difference and said I guess so,what a surprise that would be.
