  1. Thanks everyone!!! I know . . patience, patience, PATIENCE!! lol Glad to know I'm not the only one struggling out there. I was starting to feel like I was the only person who didn't drop 30 lbs the first month.
  2. So I had the surgery on 12/27/11 and my first fill is 2/6/12. I was down 12 lbs . . but once I started on real food I gained a couple and am now only down 8 lbs. Just wondering if I am the only one. Anyone?? Hello?? : ) I have no restriction and feel like I am always hungry. I know I need to have more discipline!! Ugh!! Feels like I'm back on WW and failing. Hoping the fill will help with that. Thanks. Don't mean to be a Debbie Downer . . Just had to vent and need a little support.

  4. My doctor does 3 weeks of full liquids . . . so that also includes cream soups, etc. Not just broth and jello. It may seem excessive to some . . . but he has performed thousands of lap-band surgeries and is VERY involved in the after-care of his patients. He gives us his personal email and checks it throughout the day and responds quickly to all questions. He used to recommend a 2 week full liquid diet (post-op), but has switched to 3 weeks because people have fewer problems and hello! the stomach is still trying to heal after being messed with during surgery. So I am going to follow his plan . . because this is my 1st lap-band and he has the combined experience of thousands. It is actually good - not just for healing, but also to slow down and learn about true hunger vs emotional hunger. Not a bad thing since I know we all didn't get chubby from eating only when we were truly hungry. Am I right?? Anyway . . I am really excited for this year. I know I just started and it won't always be easy . . but I have a feeling the end result will be awesome and totally worth it!
  5. Thanks everyone!! Hope everyone has a great New Years It is kinda strange not being able to eat whatever I want . . . . but it feels good!!
  6. Hey December bandsters! I was just banded on 12/27. I am doing well . . still have a bit of pain and am on a full liquid diet for 3 weeks . . . that is what my doctor recommends. I am very excited for 2012 and the changes in my weight and health and energy level. I would love to join your little group and we can offer support to each other. : )
  7. I am 5'4" and just got banded on 12/27. I started at 215 with a bmi of 37. I also have sleep apnea (which is a co-morbidity). Since my bmi was not too high, I felt like my sleep apnea was my golden ticket to have insurance cover my lap-band surgery. I only lost 4 pounds prior to surgery bc i was afraid of losing too much and not getting it covered. That is SO awesome that you lost so much on your own!! If I were you . .. I would keep going with that and if for some reason you stall and gain it back you could try to get approved again. Good luck!!
  8. Hey everyone! I just had Lap-Band surgery on the 27th. I feel pretty good . . . just a bit sore. I've been keeping lightly active . . . I have 5 kids, so that is inevitable. ; ) I'm doing great so far . . . I'm on a full liquids only diet for 3 weeks. My doctor says it helps with healing . . which is what the first 3 weeks are for. I am excited for 2012! I know it won't always be easy and that I have a bit of a learning curve ahead of me.
  9. 34 mom~ I'm in the same place! I'm hoping to have the surgery in December. I have Aetna . .. so I'm in the 3 month waiting period too. I'm having trouble losing weight pre-surgery. I was told not to lose too much bc my bmi is 37 and I have to be above 35 to get approved. . . . I'm excited, but nervous.
  10. Hey everyone! Newbie here . . . just in the pre-op/waiting for insurace approval stage . . . . very excited and hopeful, but also a little nervous about the changes.
