  1. Check with Surgery Center of Richardson about fills. I hear they are doing fills on folks banded elsewhere. I would much rather hear of you going there (where they actually DO banding) than some of the other opportunists who may take your money but don't necessarily know all they need to know about banding. just my 2 cents...
  2. Because Crohn's is an autoimmune disease, it is contraindicated with the band. This being said, I have systemic Lupus, which is also an autoimmune disease and I have been banded twice with no major issues due to the autoimmune disease. I think you'll find a difference in each doctor's opinions about this, so one may say no, the other may say yes. Depending on the severity of the Crohn's, it may be worth the risk to you.. or not.. 3. No bread, no pasta, no rice, no potatoes (no starch).. the band does tend to plug up with glutenous foods, however, I think part of this bandster rule also applies to the fact that white starches just are not 'weight loss' friendly foods. For me, they are definitely what got me in need of the band in the first place. Is it worth it to you to slow down your progress?
  4. Definitely DO NOT go until your incisions are completely healed over. Usually we're talking 10 - 14 days.
  5. try some nice hot chai tea with carb countdown milk. lots of protein and great taste!
  6. the 25th? what's the 25th??
  7. Lookin great Megan!! You go girl!! Love to see that big smile on your face!
  8. i prefer flouro, but non-flouro is cheaper and if your doc is good and the port is easily accessible, it works. i just don't think the technique can be a precise doing the fill 'blind'. just my thoughts based on my own experience.
  9. McKinney here too!
  10. Neither link opened for me.

Paula is a beautiful person, both inside and out. Anyone who gets to meet her has been truly blessed.
  13. How long did it take you to eat all of this?
  14. It helps that it is liquid form because it flows on through the pouch. Any type of drug 'sitting' above the band could help precipitate erosion of the tissues in the area. Some such drugs are more prone to do this than others but it makes sense that anything sitting in the pouch too long could eventually cause erosions/ulcerations etc. To be sure, try to always drink PLENTY of water to wash any medications on through to the lower stomach.
  15. I had a hiatal hernia repair upon my second banding surgery. I really couldn't tell anything except it seemed to take my diaphragm a bit longer to heal than in the previous surgery without the repair.
  16. I gained 30lbs in 30 days with wellbutrin as well. I hated it! I'm taking Cymbalta now too.. So far so good.

  20. it felt like i'd done about 300 setups. coughing, sneezing or hiccuping was kinda uncomfortable. walk, walk, walk.. that is the best medicine. by the 5th day I felt WONDERFUL!
  21. Darn.. of course I'll be out of town when Rica comes.. AGAIN. For those locals. I've bought myself a house in McKinney and I'll be moving over the Memorial Day holiday, then back to St Louis.. Ugh... It'll be nice WHEN I can actually LIVE in my new old house...
  22. Way to go Janie!! Happy Bandiversary and great to hear how you're doing!

Yep, one BIG hiccup is your diaphragm issuing it's first sign. We sometimes call this a 'soft' stop. If the pouch is full enough, it may continue, eventually, you'll get to the PAIN part, which is considered a 'hard' stop.. Listen to your body. It will often tell you when it's DONE.
  24. Warning!! Toughlove ahead!! ******************************************************** Well, How about if you eat solids too soon you could slip your band and UNDO everything you went through surgery for? If you are still meant to be on liquids and you're eating burgers instead, this is a real possibility. Liquids are required not for 'tolerance' sake, but for the healing of your band in place. Scar tissue has to develop around the band in order to 'anchor' it in and help keep from slipping. If you begin feeding it hard solids too early, the stomach then has to begin churning and grinding far too soon which hinders the growth of scar tissue. Liquids, on the other hand, allow the stomach to NOT have to work to digest food and be still long enough to allow the 'anchoring' process. This band will NOT do all the work, you have to meet it halfway, which means you'll have to try to make good choices at least MOST of the time, especially during the critical healing phase. Please take care of your band, there are so many others out there who are praying for one that may never get the opportunity to have it. You're one of the lucky ones, it is up to you whether it will be a success or not. Good luck!!
