  1. On a different note... Can any of the folks who have been sleeved at OCC give me tips on what is most important to pack etc. We are flying so we are taking as little as possible. But you know, been there done that what would I have done differently. When I was banded in 08 at Del Sol Bariatric in El Paso Tx I flew by myself. My biggest thing was all my personal belongings were locked up in someone's office that had already left for the day and I had none of my things after I woke up and was recovering. I had to call my family collect while higher than a kite on morphine so that took an hour or so to accomplish lol. Does OCC have your personal items in your room at the hospital when you wake up? Also the other thing was I assumed (ya I know) that they would send me home with pain medications. I was actually sent home with a prescription to go fill. I was in no way in any shape to go find a drug store so I left the hospital and stayed the night at a hotel thinking I'll be ok. Nope! Pain meds wore off and boom it was on. So I spent the night and next day in pain just wanting to get home to my family so I could recover. I could have gone to the hospital etc but I had a flight to catch and no extra money to delay the flight so I sucked it up. Beings my hubby and I will both be having surgery at the same time I'm afraid we will find ourselves in that same position if we don't prepare properly. Sorry for being so long winded on this topic, but I would greatly appreciate any input. ????
  2. As you know VegasOne I will be there the 28th, surgery the 29th and I will stay two nights at hospital due to me having lap band to sleeve revision. So I will be at hotel day of your surgery. We are scheduled to leave on the 3rd. How are you doing so far on the preop diet? My husband is struggling but hanging right in there. He's lost 17 in a week on the phase1 Atkins diet. Next week starts his 2 weeks of liquids. Eeek!! That's going to be rocky two weeks in our household!!
  3. I'm pretty certain Dr Ortiz is the surgeon. I didn't ask because I thought he was it. I know he has a team and maybe another surgeon assist.
  4. Yes Kindle I'm thinking it's super cool too! I'm gonna be ok with the Mexico thing...I think it's more my hubby and then it kind of spooks me too. Thanks for all the advice, I greatly appreciate it! When did you have your sleeve at OCC?
  5. Oh my gosh that is so awesome!! Yes, we are flying into San Diego at 11:53 am Sunday. We are from New Mexico. My hubby met me a couple months after I got my band so he has never been a fan of my ups and downs and refused to do any kind of surgery to help with his weight problem. Until a friend of mine went to Dr. Ariel Ortiz in December 2013 for the sleeve. She had nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Ortiz and OCC. She went from weighing almost 280 to now at 160 and looks fantastic and feels even better! Husband finally decided this was what he wanted to do. Beings I haven't had the best of luck with the band I decided we could do this together. It's going to be such a great new beginning for both of us and I'm so happy we are doing it together. I'm more nervous about going to Mexico more than anything but I have to get past that. I would love to be in touch with you through this journey and can't wait to meet you!
  6. Anyone getting sleeved at OCC September 29th. My hubby and I are scheduled for that day. I currently have a lap band and I'm having it revised to the sleeve. I'm excited and scared at the same time. I only took a week off from work so I'm really hoping that will be plenty for me.
  7. I'm strictly liquid diet for 3 weeks... Hasn't been to terribly bad. It's 5 days and I've lost 11 pounds!
  8. My husband and I are both being sleeved (me - lap band revision) the 29th at OCC. Anyone else getting sleeved the same time and surgeon?
  9. My husband and I are going to be sleeved on September 29th with Dr Ariel Ortiz at OCC. We are super excited!!
