  1. Is the pain a muscle pain and is it near an incision site? I was bent over yelling at the dog the other day an got a bad pinch by on of the incisions near my port and i am guessing i just probably aggravated the incision that is on the muscle. I am only about 2 weeks post op or a little more. i lost count already.
  2. OMG. I was just coming here to post that i to was skipped right over mushies. I saw dr. today and he said i was doing so good i can start eating regular foods but soft ones. and to try eating meat. but chew chew chew. I am sitting here right now eating 2 tiny tiny hamburger sliders and about half a cup of mashed pots with gravy. I am so jazzed. I would be having green Beans to but dont have any. sad face. i love green beans. So far it is going really well. Congrats to you. oh i am only 1 week post op. GO US. totally awesome!!!!!
  3. I am 7 days post op. Yea me. lol. Anyway, yesterday i started to feel like all i was doing all day was eating. I am hungry about every 2 to 3 hours so I eat about a cup or so of food. I am still in my full liquid phase. I know these are hunger pains because that wierd feeling pre band that gurggled up into my esophagus( like when i was really really starved) is happening. Is it normal to be eating so often in the full liquid phase? I go to my post op today so I am going to talk to the surgeon about it but just wanted to find out what everyone elses experience is first.
  4. My dr has told me anything that can be sucked threw a straw i can have but do not use a straw. I just ate mashed potatoes thinned with chicken gravy. but thats all i know of. I will be watching this thread.
  5. surgery day for me was great. I dont remember much but i was preped and saw nurses and some dr.s before then the anesthia guy gave me a cocktail told me i would be feeling better in a minute. they started wheeling me down the hallway and i was half asleep. by the time they got me into the or i was almost completedly asleep. they had me switch over to the table then they put an o2 mask on me and i fell asleep. next thing i know i was waking up in recovery. I never even go to do my countdown i was asleep before they even gave me the anesthia. in recovery everything went good and then theybrought my mom and my bestfriend in. I left the surgery center about an hour after i was waking from the anesthia. car ride home was good. I am doing great now. I am walking alot and drinking some water just sips at a time. My stomach feels weird when the water gets down there and fells that way for a minute then i am fine. thought i would share.

  7. a little nervous, but mostly excited. thought i would share.
  8. I am also scared to death of the gynocologist. LOL I know i am strange. I had a thought today. If I were to need to be put to sleep at the gynocologist for a surgery i wouldnt be able to do it. Like i tottally couldnt do it. The gyno even has to give me valuim 2 days before i go in or else i wont even go. I asked my surgeon for some valuim again he still said no. But now that i think of what I could be going into surgery for the lapband surgery doesnt bother me so much anymore.
  9. So is the supervised diet for insurance supposed to show the insurance company you are serious about losing weight or just that you have been trying and its not working? Also my insurance company wouldnt cover it due to my employment not authorizing that as a covered benefit so I just decided to self pay. Is there some steps i should take in order to get them to reimburse me or if its not covered its just not covered?
  10. awesome. congrats. and good point about the antidepressants. Thanks
  11. I have surgery on the 6th and am very excited. I am on an antidepressant along with abilify, and pain meds for my back. After losing weight will these still be needed do you think? What meds or problems did u have preop that you no longer have?
  12. Hi paul, My surgery is costing 8950 but it does not include fills and post op appts. My dr is retiring the end of this month but the dr who is doing my fills and aftercare is a nice guy. His staff is rude but I can deal. I didnt have it done with him originally because they wouldnt accept financing well thats what they told me. My dr. said that they did but I am confident i made the right choice of Dr.s he is really great and so is his staff.
  13. My surgery is on the 6th and I am very nervous about being put to sleep. I am not sure why. I know everything will be ok. I think i am so worried about it because i am a control freak and being under you have no control. Am I the only one who is scared or what. Please only respond with words of encouragment i dont want to be scared anymore than i already am.
  14. I am being banded on the 6th of sept. I requested 4 to 6 weeks off work. I know its a long time but i work in a grocery store in the deli department . Actually the specialty cheese shop. I do lots of heaving lifting on a daily basis and my employer will not let me work with lift restrictions so looks like i get a nice long paid vacation. just thought i would add my 2 sence. hehe
  15. Have been reading alot on the first week post op and have found alot of great suggestions for things like baby tylenol, mylanta chewable gas meds, and such. I am still preop scheduled for sept 6th. I am wondering if I can get suggestions here on the stuff that has helped you out post op. My mother and bestfriend are going to be taking care of me for the first 2 days or so so i would like to get a list of stuff together for them so they know what will help me through this process. any and all suggestions are welcome even if they are standard from your dr or just common sense. Thanks so much. Oh also i would like to know how to get a ticker to work. I have created one but cant seem to figure it out
  16. My preop diet started on the 23 i believe. It has been going ok. I am on Low carb low calorie hi protien. I been drinking shakes in the morning. i mix eas whey protien with strawberry yogurt, strawberries lotsa ice, and sometimes a third of a banana. I can have 1 serving of fruit a day. I am also eating lots of meat and cheese. I really have not cheated. I have eaten a few crackers here and there but not really a cheat. I am super excited but scared and nervous. I am scared that i wont use the lapband to its fullest. A customer at work told me she knows of some people that had it done and they just went back to eating the way they were before being banded and ended up not losing. I am also scared shitless because i am deathly afraid of being put to sleep. Every 1 tells me it will be ok but it doesnt help. I asked dr for some anxiety meds he told me no cuz i am already on so many meds. I dont know how i am going to get through this next week with the anxiety. I have my preop appt on tuesday and i dont know what they are going to be doing. I can not wait to be banded. I am so excited.
  17. I am being banded on september 6th and i am looking for others who will be banded on the same date so we can be there for each other and talk and help each other through our journey. I am a self pay patient. My ins does not cover this procedure but i wanna be healthy and active again so i have alot invested in this and i wanna be as successfull as i can be. I have about 100 or more pounds to lose. I dont wanna be skinny when i reach my goal i wanna be muscley. lol. i plan to start working out as soon as i am able to do so without alot of pain. I am only at 270. but i have bad back problems and knee and ankle problems so i am hoping i can lose enough soon to be able to excercise again. So if u are scheduled to be banded on the 6th please friend me i would like to chat and support each other. thanks, Violet
