  1. Does anyone in here know of a Sleevers support group in Tallahassee, Florida ? I have a date of Dec 22, 2011 set for my VSG surgery. I was looking for somewhere where I can talk to people in person. 375, 5.11", BMI of 54 today. Looking forward to getting a new life started. I am hoping this will help me help myself.
  2. Ok, so I'm sure this thread has been posted before, however, I am a new sleever (Dec, 2011,) and I would like to know which foods five you battle hardened vets the most trouble. I would like to know the most dangerous of my old favorites that will cause me undue pain and suffering, and I don't mean weight gain. A couple days ago, on my 7th day post-op I was feeling pretty good and decided to have a tiny cup of Cream of Wheat..............WHHHOOOOAAAA, NELLLLIIIEE. Big Mistake....I guess I flew too close to the Sun. I was sickernadawg. I would like to follow everything to the letter now, but would like input from you guys on what foods are the mist problematic with regard to dumping. Thank you and please be specific.
  3. Someone told me that Doritos are a terrible thing to eat with the sleeve, worse than alcohol for your new stomach. Obviously, they are fattening, but that is not what I am referring to. Anyone??
  4. I was wondering what is the most weight loss ever by someone who had sleeve surgery done. Any trivia buffs out there know of (or heard of) any crazy, amazing results ??
  5. down 76 pounds in 69 days....whooohoo !!

  6. Ok, so I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times, but I am 5 weeks out and doing fine. Is it silly to have one alcoholic beverage 6 weeks after surgery (not several drinks, just one?) a small vodka and tomato juice is what I would like to try. thanks.

    Alcohol After 6 Weeks Out?

that's great !! my new friend here in Tallahassee just had her's done yesterday down in Mexico. She emailed me today and she is ok, just the normal stuff, soreness, sleep habits off a bit, thirsty, etc.... she is a member on the other sleeve forum http://www.gastricsleeve.com/. Congratulations for your date ! I lost so much so quickly, but have hit a plateau right now. God, you hardly eat anything, I swear, you almost forget all about food after a couple weeks.

Worst Foods You Can Eat With The Gastric Sleeve

Thanks everyone for the replies. Hopefully I will get many more. I am wondering if it was the brown sugar in the cream of wheat that hit me so hard? I hate the fact that white bread and Pasta might be no-no's even in moderation. I can do without the sugar, no prob, but oh well, i am committed, so, here it goes ..................... Hoping for as many replies as I can get !! thx.

  17. 1 full day post op. Pain, Pain, Pain

  18. Amanda, I got sleeved yesterday at 10:30 AM. I got nervous too. I almost crapped my pants when the IV went in and all the nurses and PAs started coming by to prepare me. My surgery went fine, but I had tremendous pain, and it hurts to drink Water. I also feel like i need to belch, but cannot. How are you getting by? Bo.
  19. December 21st. That is the day I take the plunge. I am nervous, scared, and excited. My goal is 175 lbs. I feel that I will achieve, but of course, I worry about the finality of it all. Then I remember ho long I have pondered this and that I am ready. Ready for change, ready for commitment, ready for life. I am not going to be consumed by the claustrophobia of limitations. I am ready to go easy, be contented, and savor moderation. I'm not a dog in the pound. The food will not run out. I will have plenty. Plenty of life, love, and peace. Change is coming and I am prepared for it.
  20. dec 21st.....counting down the days...whoop whoop !

  21. @brookb, congratulations and good 4 you. I am looking to sharing stories with you !! thanks.

My VSG Surgery is December 22, 2011 !!

Thank you for all of the comments. It is kinda cool to know others are going to be going through the same thing at the same time. I am eager to compare results and share in happy and difficult times with you guys. Good luck to each of you. Thank you Lissa !!!
  23. After 1 year of consideration of lap-band and many years of failed weight loss with diet and exercise, I have set a date for sleeve surgery. Getting nervous now, but in a good way. Time seems to fly by, and by this time next year, I will be at my target weight, (I hope). I am 39, 375, BMI of 54. I was very athletic and have lots of muscle mass, but have a big appetite too, and my health has spiraled downward out of my control for 10 years now. I have always loved food. Exercise is not an issue, but my metabolic rate has slowed and now I have gotten used to eating less, but at my size, life is so difficult. Getting dressed is a b***h. When I walk into a room now, i scan around to find a comfortable chair where i will not be embarrassed....sad. I felt my life slipping away, so it is time to jump in feet first. I would love to hear any success stories and any tips on what to watch out for, I can find the basic "what to do's" on my own. There are plenty of negative stories on the web, but i do not want to hear those. I am moving forward and would like to hear successful sleeve stories and tips as well as any of those things that people don't plan for when getting sleeved. Thanks !
