  1. Time for a new belt? Wrapped 1.5x around
  2. Whole idea behind the pre-op diet is not to lose weight. It's all about shrinking your liver for safer and easier surgery. Liver lays directly over the stomach and the surgeon has to flip it up in order to place the band. How your Doctor will approach it is really unknown. Some Docs do not enforce a diet and some do. I have even heard stories about Surgeons going in and finding the liver too fatty to work around safely so they abort the surgery. I am not trying to scare you as I have stated every doctor is different.
  3. Make sure you get some vitamins in chewable form for post op. Also, do you know if you're staying over night at the hospital? I was not allowed to eat or drink after surgery. I had some Biotene on hand to swab my dry throat.
  4. Sounds like you are doing wonderful Debbie!! You are on your way.....Congrats!
  5. Coach your story resonates with a lot of us. Losing weight is easy but keeping it off is the hard part. That statement may sound like a generalization on my part but I have read more often then not on here that "I can lose the weight but I cannot keep it off". I dropped a 170+ pounds in 19 months by dieting. I gained it all back plus another 90!! When I think back to that time I can remember how happy I was with my weight loss but I also think of how miserable I was at times because I was depriving myself. I could not be happier with my band life. Weight is coming off but I am enjoying my life as well. Everything and anything in moderation. Whatever you decide to do make sure it is what you want. Do not allow outside influences to dictate your needs and desires. Good luck!
  6. I agree 100%. I sit down with my Surgeon and Nut at those appointment and we discuss my progress and we come to a consensus. At the end of the day they leave the ultimate decision up to me as they realize I am the one walking around and living with it.
  7. Hey All, I am approaching 19 months (Nov 16) out and things are going great. Lately, though I have been wondering about the health of my band. I have no real reasons to be suspicious of a problem but I am curious. Since I hit the year mark and I was in the green zone my Doc started setting me up with 6 month follow up appointments instead of every 6 weeks. They always tell me if for any reason I need to come in then just call. I have never had a Fluro fill. I would just go in to the office and they would stick the needle in and be done. I am just curious if anyone else has thought much about this. I know the old saying goes "if ain't broken then don't fix it" thanks for reading...
  8. See if he will attend a Seminar with you. He may learn something from it. Have you dieted in the past while you've been with him? Most of us can diet and lose weight but keeping it off is always the tough part. Lapband is not a diet and in fact most of do not like to use the word diet. Lapband and living with it means making a commitment to a lifestyle change. It is not just about losing weight. Good Luck to you.
  9. Agreed!! And you can bet if they're overweight then they're already hearing about it from other kids their age and possibly being bullied. This woman may think she is doing the right thing with the best intentions but clearly she has not thought this through.

    Congratulations Junkie!!
  11. Basically it is a pamphlet used to push an Agenda whether it be political or religious.
  12. Only thing I have a hard time with is Steak and doughy bread like hamburger rolls. BUT, like TMF my interest in all the foods that I once couldn't live without diminished greatly. chips and Cheez-Its used to be my go to foods. I haven't had chips in months and Cheez-Its since before surgery. It amazes me still how I don't miss food. At times I say to myself so this is how normal (non weight issue) people feel.
  13. I wish I lived there. I haven't egged a house since I was a teenager.
  14. Honestly though if she feels that way then why not just leave your lights off and don't give out candy at all. Nope, have to make a statement about it.
  15. I guess they should do away with Easter as well.
  16. Unreal.....This woman's house is going to get egged for sure!! What nerve.... http://www.wcvb.com/...hannel+5+boston
  17. After a fill? My Doctor tells his patients soft liquids for 24 hours after a fill. Of course not all Doctors are the same.
  18. Congratulations on your Surgery and loss so far. Best is yet to come!!
  19. It was 27 degrees this morning in NH. It was a very chilly ride to work and it's only October!! Going to be a long cold Winter...
  20. Hang in there Micki!! It's just an annoying speed bump designed to test your dedication to the process. I can imagine it really sucks but I agree you need to just accept it for what it is and work on the positive which is getting it fixed. Band life is so worth it I wish you all the best!!
  21. Patience my friends.... Alex is doing the needful and has stated this will be well worth the weight (see what I did there) http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/177914-blog/#entry2067015 We should all be thankful for this wonderful spot on the www to share and support one another. Without Alex we'd all be on OH.com and miserable!! LOL
  22. Almost forgot about that one. I haven't worn my wedding band on my hand in almost 8 months because it kept falling off. Now I wear it around my neck on a chain with my medical (band) dog tag. Figure once I finally bottom out with my losing I will get it re sized.
  23. Kicking Ass!! Congratulations you must be feeling great.
  24. Kelli and I attended our first Patriots game ever. Had a fantastic time. No issues with the long walk from the parking lot to the stadium and plenty of room even with a packed house. Best weekend I've had in a long while. You can see from the photo we are both sporting multiple layers of baggy clothes. It got chilly once the sun went down.
