Well, here goes nothing! I have always had a weight problem...grew up as a chubby girl, who hated anything to do with activity and would rather be inside reading and studying. My first diet was at the age of 13 when I was entering high school. I've done every diet known to mankind with some good results but never anything that I sustained. This has been my plight until today.
I am now 48(my birthday was yesterday), mother of two grown sons and two beautiful granddaughters. As a high school administrator, I have the opportunity to touch the lives of so many young men and women. My weight has not stopped me from living the life I always wanted. Since my divorce, I have begun to travel extensively to the Caribbean and any where I can find a beach.
Although I am a happy woman routinely, I still have that nagging voice that plays over and over in my head about being obese(I remember reading this on my medical chart at a routine OB/GYN visit and was HORRIFIED!!!) I have thought about bariatric surgery for years and finally have taken the plunge. My surgery is scheduled for August 1st (5 days and counting).
It is my hope and prayer that this will give me the kick start I need to become healthy. My goal is not only to lose the excess weight, but more importantly, to get off blood pressure, cholestrol meds, and to become more active with my granddaughters!!! As I approach 50, I know there is so much I want to do and see as a healthier version of myself.
