I was never thin, but my weight got seriously out of hand the year after my daughter's birth. I tried going it alone and a couple of support groups and managed to lose about 80 pounds, but gained it back along with another 30. Seeing pictures of myself at the beach last summer really woke me up, along with the pain in my knee when walking down stairs. A colleague had a good experience with the Lap Band and urged me to look into it. I really appreciated how my surgeon and his staff presented a realistic picture of what the band can do. It's a tool, not a magic wand. When I follow the plan and exercise, the weight comes off. When I slack off, I tend to stall. I haven't had the complications that some people have. I'm about 29% of the way to my goal and I already feel like a new woman. I would do it again tomorrow.
