    Cigna (Oap)

Its been almost a month since I first submitted paperwork. After my 6 months, and gathering all documents from other Drs. It took insurance about 1 week until I got a denial letter and we called and asked how I had been denied when I had everything turned in and done that was required, they confirmed that I had not been denied and that my paper work was with the medical director and to give it 24-48 hours. Well of course that was the Friday before memorial day weekend. Heard from insurance on that following Thursday that I had been denied and needed a reconsideration letter/ clearance letter from another physician other then my surgeon that this surgery indeed was needed for myself. Saw my primary this past Thursday, she did a quick physical and an EKG and agreed to clear me/ give me a letter now waiting on that. Once the letter is ready I have to fax that back into Cigna and wait for a reconsideration approval. Ticks me off because no where did we read or was told I would need a clearance letter-I have been going through loop holes with Cigna for a year now! If i Don't get approved by July I have to re do my psych and diet evaluations since they only take paperwork with in a year! its been the most stressful/anxiety filled few weeks! very frustrating but I won't give up!
  3. New to this page, first time I have actually checked itout. The psychologist I saw as one of the pre requirements to surgeryrecommended me to this site. Was just given a possible surgery date of August 2and have my pre opt appointment on July 19. Overly excited and cannot wait tohave surgery and start seeing results! Any tips people can offer of how Ishould prep for before surgery...or things I need to get done, or have readyfor when I’m done with surgery and beginning my journey of becoming my skinnyself again I know it’s in there somewhere. It just has been hiding the last5 years!
  4. My surgeon does not have his patients do a pre op 1-2 week liquid diet. Just the typical nothing to eat or drink for 24 hours before surgery. Im not going to lie, I was very happy to hear this. He told me enjoy all I can up until 11pm the night before surgery. I am getting banded on August 2, in 13 days and my sister (who is also in the started process of getting banded) is very worried for me that I will not be prepared for what to expect after surgery because I will have had no pre op diet. She is affraid I am going to fail because I don't have to do any kinds of liquid only before. Matter of fact, I was told I only needed to do clear liquids for 2-3 days then I could move onto thick liquids for a few days then softs. Let me tell you, I was loving my surgeon even more! haha! I am just worried I am going to be in one huge shock after surgery, and one REALLY big cranky girl!
  5. Never once was I questioning my Drs orders, matter of fact was trilled with his orders. Simply was just asking if I was asking for a rude awaking once I do start my liquid diet post op. I am well educated and getting more and more prepaired each day. I have NO problems following Dr. orders seeing how I do it everyday. thank you so much everyone for ALL your input it all helps so much.
  6. that is exactly what I was affraid of. And yes, I am aware of my liver being enlarged, but it was something That was not of concern. I also am VERY confident in my surgeon and take what he says with confidence, but I do agree that It would be best for me to try a liquid diet for a couple days. Even just to find a protein that I like. I still have to meet with my nutritionist on friday, which is my very last appointment with all of this, and maybe then I will be told a whole different story.
  7. Thanks for the info! I had my pre op yesterday and I’mall set and ready to go for August 2! I can’t believe it! I had a really fastprocess compared to most people by what I am reading, I started this process inmid June and I’m already having surgery in August. Once I set my mind of doingsomething I really push to get it done. I also have an amazing nurse that worksfor my surgeon who clearly knows how to push insurance companies to get thesesurgeries approved! With all this said, it has left me with not much time to domy pre op and post op preparations! I hope I don’t feel too over whelmed! Mysurgeon does not require a pre op 1-2 week fast, and says he only recommendsclear liquids for about 2 to 3 days then I can move on to more ticker liquidsfor a bit then soft’s and of course solids! I’m taking today to make my listsof things I need to buy, get ready and who knows what!

    CIGNA and fills?

    CIGNA and fills?

thank you! I had my pre op yesterday and talked to my nurse and she said I would be covered for pills, like you guys said and just pay the co-pay, but she said something about a window time..I wasnt really understanding so what I am assuming is that my CIGNA will prob cover so many fills in a period of time and then I will have to pay for the rest..hope its not too pricey!
  10. I have been hearing from a lot of different people thatthey really like Muscle Milk Protein shakes. I was actually at GNC todaylooking at all the different shakes. I have my pre-op on Tuesday and mynutrition on Friday so I will definitely be talking to them about what theyrecommend as well!

    August Bandsters????

My surgery date is set for August 2nd! I am so anxious! Ihave my Pre-op this Tuesday, and my nutrition appointment on Friday! I was outwith my sister today looking at all the different Protein shakes, but stillwaiting to talk to the Drs to see what they recommend. I am still in theprocess though of getting my insurance approval. This has all come SO fast forme, so I almost think it is too good to be true! I started this process in May,and the office says they are very confident that insurance will be approved anyday as to why they scheduled my pre op already! I received a call from the surgeon’soffice on Thursday saying I needed a clearances letter from my primaryphysician who is the one who recommended me for surgery, but of course he isout of the office all week! Going to try to call again first thing Monday toremind them to send over that letter because I REALLY want to get this donethis summer while I’m out of school and can afford to take some time off! Fingerscrossed! And good luck to all those getting banded in august!
  12. Thank you so much for all your advice! anything helps me greatly. I am still waiting for a final approval from the insurance company, but my nurse at the office, already has given me a pre op appointment, and a possible surgery date of August 2. So I think she feels pretty confident that she will have an approval by then! Im getting more and more excited everyday, but I have to keep reminding myself that it may not all go through as expected!
