  1. Hi there! I too had BCBS of AL...and just played the waiting game myself. I had the 6mo diet, jumped through all the hoops. My doctor's office submitted and I didn't hear anything for a week. Being impatient and hating to wait, I called and spoke to CS. I felt a little silly, but they were very nice. They did not have any pre-determination on file at that time. I called back a few days later (since the doc's office said sometimes I can hear before they do) and found out I was rejected! This really put me into a tailspin and I was pretty surprised. They said my doctor's office neglected to include a 3-year medical records documenting my weight. Since my deductible has already been met for the year AND my insurance is changing come 1/1/12, I was pretty desperate to get this solved quickly. Since I don't have a regular PCP, I contacted my gyno's office and was able to obtain documentation. They resubmitted to insurance and a week later, I was approved! I just got the news of approval last Monday and my surgery is scheduled for 12/1. I am beyond thrilled! My advice to those waiting...it's terrible to wait, but keep your eye on the prize. Keep your head high and you will get there!!
  2. Hello December bandsters! I just was approved last week and my date is set for 12/1! I cannot wait. It's nearly been a year-long journey and I'm ready! My surgeon doesn't require a pre-op diet, which I thought was a little strange, but only a 2-day bowel cleanse to clean me out. Then I'll be on liquids for 2 weeks post-op. I look forward to sharing my journey with you all! I can't wait for it to officially begin!
  3. Well after a full week of anticipation I discovered that my paperwork was not even submitted to insurance. Apparently my center's former psychologist did not complete my paperwork for the eval, so I needed to go through another eval with the new psychologist. I'm hoping that my paperwork will finally be submitted in a few days. Then the real waiting begins!
  4. Congrats to you and your journey! Your post was written beautifully and I agree with the others, I think many of us have felt the same way. I share your feelings...and I'm ready to start my new life too! I've submitted to insurance and I'm just playing the waiting game now. Here's to all of us who took the first step to our new life! Please keep us posted on your wonderful transformation into a more confident and happy you!
  5. I just completed my 6mo diet for BCBS of Alabama. Now I'm waiting patiently...I'm hoping it's quick. I'm so excited as well...and trying not to think about the time. Just waiting for a good news letter or phone call! Good luck to you and keep us posted!
  6. Thank you so much for having the courage to share! I found your story inspiring and touching. I too have struggled with the emotional side of my weight. I just turned 30 and barely have 20 full-body pictures of my last 10 years. I'm newly engaged and I don't have many pictures documenting our relationship, because I'd always crop out everything except my face. I know I've got to tackle the mental part head on. It's going to be hard to love myself the way others do when I've hated myself for so long. I sincerely appreciate your story. I look forward to surgery later this year and taking the official step to turning around my life! Congrats!
  7. well i'm on my 4th month of my "6 mo diet" and i've done nothing but gain weight. i've probably gained about 10 lbs. i've really been trying, but obviously not enough. i've been very stressed out at a new job and commuting a total of 3 hours a day. this has definitely taken a toll on my body. i talk with the docs about it...they just encourage me to eat healthy and try to get some exercise in. but all this stress raises my cortisol and i just keep packing it on. my BP has been elevated every time i go for my appt. i am really hoping this doesn't hurt my chances of being approved. i have BCBS of alabama.... anyone else gaining weight on their "diet"?
  8. Hello everyone. I have been trolling these boards for a few months. I'm in the process of my insurance-required 6mo. diet (about halfway). I'm very excited to start this journey. My weight has been a constant battle for most of my life. I'm looking forward to getting healthy and feeling better about myself! There is so much to love about me, I just need to convince myself! I love reading all the posts on this site...it's been very informative and helpful. I look forward to sharing this journey with you all.. Krisha
