    Lap-Band removal

I don't think you have failed your band...I think your band failed you. I had my band totally unfilled when I was pregnant with my daughter, she's 2 months old and I just had my 1st fill after almost a year. I'm starting over, it's scary, but you may feel good getting your reflux under control, wait a couple months and they start again, it's like a jump start after hitting a wall. Ist week and I've lost 5lbs, it sucks after having so much pregnancy fat fun, but I'm driven now. I suggest that if you loosen the port for a couple months that you do weight watchers so you don't go totally off the wagon. You may also want to look into a gastro surgeon, they may be more willing to take on your case. You did it once you can do it again

    Negativity Stinks

I admit, I found this forum and blasted onto it with a ton of negativity, I have a Dr. who didn't share much, an insurance company who got me banded within a couple months, no nutritionist or a support group with them. People come here myself include because we are scared, frustrated and trying to navigate through this. I'm glad I found this site and after I ranted, I got a lot of great feedback . I've read and already learned a ton and I feel in general not alone. I hope you can offer the newbie's your experience and give ranting a break it's good to vent, it helps prevent people from going on killing rampages or at the very least from drinking enough malts to be put in a sugar coma:)

    Lap-Band removal

I've had some re-flux issues, they went away after I took out some fluid in the band. If you had your surgery in Mexico, where do you get your band filled? Can they recommend someone? Go on line and find Bariatric clinics in your area and see of they will take you on as a new patient. That sucks, did you lose the weight you wanted at least.

    here we go

It has been 3 years since my surgery, I originally lost around 40lbs. The place I had it done didn't have any support groups and I had to learn everything through trial and error. I pretty much stayed at that weight for a year, I would have the band tightened only to get horrible reflux and then they would loosen it. I never lost anymore weight but I didn't gain any either. I missed eating like other people, and I found ways to cheat like chips and chicken nuggets I can eat but regular chicken or any beef and most fruits are a no go. My husband and I wanted a 2nd child so we tried for the last 2 years and we just had a little girl 2 months ago. It was bliss to be able to eat a banana I only gained 25lbs with my daughter and that left with delivery and now I'm starting over. I have my band filled on tuesday and I think it's really tight, I'm not eating 1 tenth of what I was and and I know I need to drink water but getting it down is hard, maybe f I hold on I'll lose weight quickly and the band will loosen. I feel moments of great hope that this time it will be better I need a support system. Other times I feel like getting it reversed....like what did I do to myself, I can't eat dinner with my family or eat with friends. Feeling like a social misfit and I guess in general sorry for myself. Will try to stay positive and learn from all of you out there.

    Extremely Frustrated

I understand what your saying. I also have a hard time finding the quote "Sweet spot" they talk about. I go back and forth and with your current situation you will have to go in and get some Fluid out. I had that happen and it got more and more restricted like the band was irritated. My husband drove me in the middle of the night to my clinic and we had a surgeon I'd never met but was on call unfill me a little. It got really scary driving and spitting into a cup. I would call sooner rather than later. Maybe find out if a local dr would be willing or able to monitor your fills? I just had a baby and have started over again. I'm at the point were i wish I would have had the bypass, at least I would be done and it wouldn't hurt. I keep telling myself to be positive and give it another try. If I don't lose a lot this time I may have it removed. I hope I helped or at least understand and feel your frustration.

    skinny minnie

My mom is tough as well, I inherited my dads build and she's skinny and I finally realized that she is a fat person hater, must suck to have her husband and both of her children be over weight. Example...I was unfilled because I was pregnant and was eating my first hot dog with a bun in 3 years and I said it was so good I could eat a second one and she said now "K" don't use this pregnancy as a chance to go all piggy....Yep thats my mom!
  9. I'm in your same boat, I have a 2month old and just got my first fill, it seems overwhelming to start over again. I'll cheer for you and you cheer for me. We did it once we can do it again. Now to remember how to chew and chew and chew!
