  2. Today is my 46th birthday. Hard for me to wrap my head around being this old. I don't feel 46, but I am. Since my birthday is 6 days after Christmas and I received a very nice expensive camera for Christmas, I was not expecting anything for my birthday other than the camera case we had to buy separately. My loving husband surprised with me a gift card to go shopping to get clothes that fit me a bit better. (This is the NSV part) When I started out, I was wearing a size 28 pants. I have made it down to recently to size 18 but they are getting a bit loose on me so I wanted to try on a size 16 to see if they fit. I wasn't expecting much but I thought I would try it out. Well, the size 16 pants were to big for me, and I ended up buying 3 pair of pants in size 14 and 1 top that is a Large or just an X. Can't remember what it is. One of the new pants are a skinny fit and make my legs look quite skinny. I was pretty much shocked. There was a pair of pants in the store I really liked but they didn't have any in the size I needed. I told the clerk it is a completely new experience for me to not be able to buy something because it is to big for me. Talk about a head smack experience. Today has been a good day, so far. Friends and family coming over a little later for dinner and then watching the ball drop. I love my sleeve and my emerging new body. (I never thought I would ever say that) Sheila

  5. Hello everyone. Just got back from the Dominican Republic, was there for a week. Although I had already met my goal for the Halloween challenge, I thought I would update my weight. While away, I lost an additional 4 pounds, so my current weight is 193lbs. I bested the challenge by 6lbs. Wow!!! Congratulations to all who have met or exceeded their Halloween challenge, and for those who struggled, good luck on the next challenge. We will all do this together and have huge success. Sheila
  6. One of the reason I choose to have WLS was to help me gain control of my health issues. I had Type II diabetes, high cholesterol, bad joints in my knees and feet and so on. Well, after my blood work results, I am happy to report: I am no longer diabetic. I no longer have high cholesterol. My joints are feeling better although they still twinge every now and then. I am off my diabetic meds as well as the cholesterol meds. I am reducing the dosage of my synthroid meds. I only have 2 mandatory meds I have to take that are, HRT (female hormones due to a hysterectomy in 2002) and my synthroid. Yay! It is amazing what losing 94 pounds will do for your health. 45 pounds prior to surgery and 49 after surgery. Working on becoming as healthy as I can. Sheila
  7. Thanks Ladies. I am definitely celebrating my Huge scale Victory with a walk today. No food celebrations any longer for me . Gonna keep going. Have lots to go. Sheila

  13. Checking in. I won't put all the stats in, but I will say, lost 4 more pounds since I last checked in and now my weight is 209lbs, which means I am 10 lbs to my Halloween goal. Can't believe it. Like everyone else when they are first sleeved, I was unsure what I was doing, if I liked what I had done to myself. Now I am learning to listen to my sleeve and I know when I am full. My dogs are extremely happy because they always get to help me finish off my plate. :0) I can now say I honestly love my sleeve, and I thank God for giving me this opportunity and blessing. Sheila

  18. Thanks everyone. Your advice and encouraging words have helped tremendously. I have started to drink Gatorade and Powerade. I dilute it half and half with Water and it seems to be working. I can still only drink 3 cups a day. I am hoping to get more in as time goes by. I never thought it would be this hard to drink. I am not going to worry about the amount I am eating right now, I am going to eat until I feel full and then stop. I am tracking my Protein intake, calories, carbs, sugars on MyFitnessPal. Now that I am on soft foods, I am able to get more protein in although I am still not up to where I need to be, but I am working on it. Thanks again everyone. You are all my hero. Sheila
  19. I am 4 weeks and 4 days post surgery. I was wondering how long it takes for the swelling to go down around your new tiny tummy? I think I am about a week or so behind on the healing process due to having an infection on day 4 post op until day 10. Could this affect my tummy swelling? I respect and appreciate all the VSG veterns, that is why I am posing this question here. I do have a follow up appointment with my surgeon on Sept 6. Just wanted to know before hand. Thanks for your help. Sheila
  20. Thanks. Unfortunately I am unable to drink Water. Makes me feel sick. I have been drinking tea to help getting in the liquids as right now that is all I am handle. It is good to know that I will soon be able to eat more than I am eating now. It is hard to imagine that I will be able to exist eating only this tiny amount. Thanks again. Sheila
  21. Hello everyone. I thought I would send in my question because most of you are experts and I know I will get a good answer from you guys. I am 4 weeks out. I am transitioning into the Soft Foods today. However, up until now, I have been struggling to get much of any kind of food in me. I eat like 2 or 3 teaspoon bites, and I can't eat any more. I think the most I have gotten in calorie wise is maybe 300 to 350 calories a day. The same goes with fluids. I can not seem to get hardly in fluids in me without becoming extremely full. I can not stomach Water, even with lemon in it. It does not sit well in my tummy. When I do drink just water, I feel sick to my stomach. I just want to know if this is normal or should I be discussing this with my surgeon? Thanks for the help experts. I look forward to your replies. Sheila
  22. You CAN do this!!! Keep going. You are doing GREAT!!! Sheila
  23. SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Sheila..........245lbs................220lbs........220lbs.......0lbs..... 24. That is fantastic. You are doing wonderfully!!!! I was just sleeved on July 27 and I have lost 22 pounds so far. I can't wait to hit Onederland. It is getting closer but my first mini goal is to be 220 at my first post op follow up. 3 pounds to go. Keep up the great work. You will be at goal before you know it. Sheila
