Had surgery 6/29 and have no restriction
I think my surgeon felt the same way too. On my pre-op diet I only lost 3 lbs but of course I was only on it for 3 days. Then I had my post op appt and was only down a total of 6 lbs. My scale at home said about 12lbs, which I was so happy about. Once I stepped on his scale my happiness faded. But as I drove home from the doctors office I thought about the 6lb loss and found it to be a victory as 6lbs in 1 week was awesome! Now only if I can keep up with this diet before I gain too much.

Punishing myself? Sabotaging myself? Testing my band? PLEASE help. :(
I know all too well what you are going through. I was banded 6/29 and have been eating solids. I have no restriction whatsoever. I was told that through the fills I would feel the restriction but also after having surgery that normally you wouldn't feel hungry because you are healing. Well that went away quickly like a few days after surgery. Even then I tried holding back from trying solids. But then came the taste testing, then after testing would actually be full meals. Now, I am eating as much as I did before. I have been suffering from emotional eating/binges for a good while now, well to be exact...about 10 years. This is the heaviest I have ever been in my life and I just don't feel good about myself and am depressed. All this makes me stay heavy. At first when I started wanting the band I was so excited thinking this is my last resort and that I WILL MAKE IT WORK. Well I had the surgery almost 3 weeks ago and now that I am back to being depressed again because of me not sticking to the plan am not thinking positive like I was 3 weeks before or even 2 months before. I just don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know I haven't had my first fill yet, but it's hard for me to stay positive knowing that I have an emotional issue that I have to deal with. If I don't deal with this emotional issue before I get my fill then it will be of no use to get it. I am going to look into getting help to deal with my issues. I really do want the band to work for me and I have to think of it as a tool to get healthy and not some easy way to lose weight. Cause it won't be easy, the band is here to help but I have to do the hard work. I have to keep myself from eating in between meals, I have to be the one to exercise, I have to be the one to say NO when satisfied, and I have to be the one to love myself enough to say ENOUGH to sabotaging myself. This isn't going to be an easy journey for either of us but we have to find a way to look at the positive. Because there are many of bandsters out there that have been successful with losing the weight and have kept it off. We are worth it!!!! There isn't anything wrong with you, we all have our issues with why we are overweight. We just have to learn to deal with those issues and kick the habit. If you need to talk, I am here for you.

Had surgery 6/29 and have no restriction
So glad it's not just me going through this. But I am a little scared that I may have done damage to my band because I eat too fast at times and have started a solid diet earlier than prescribed. I have to make myself eat slow, it's just very hard to do. Sometimes I get so hungry that I eat too fast. I know that I won't be able to do this when I get my fills or else it will come back up. So I have to use this time to change my whole lifestyle and how I look at food. I should look at food as only being energy for me. This is going to be a long journey. I guess I need to work up the courage to contact my nutritionist and dr. to spill the beans. I want to get checked that I didn't do any damage or make my band slip.

Had surgery 6/29 and have no restriction
I wish I had the willpower that you have, I guess I am going to have to make myself stick to the diet. I know I have some emotional issues to deal with, it's just really hard for me. My biggest problem with me being overweight was the fast food, which I haven't had any of. I do crave it from time to time but I didn't have this band to go back to my old eating habits. Now I have to work on keeping to my diet.

Had surgery 6/29 and have no restriction
Hi all, I had my surgery on 6/29 with little to no problems thanks to God. My problem is now that I am tired of the pureed/liquid diet and have been eating solids for the past week. I know I shouldn't be doing this as it can cause problems for me but I just gag at the sight of Protein shakes and Soups. I need real food in my body. At first I felt restriction and didn't eat quite as much as I used to, but now that I am used to it I feel that I can eat as much as I did before. I am a little depressed because I don't feel like I am losing anymore. I checked on the scale and think I have actually gained a couple of lbs. I know I should focus on weight loss at this time because I am still recovering but I am. I wanted to hold off on the fill and try to do it without it, but I really need it. I am scheduled on the 9th of August to get my first fill but feel that it's too far away.

Any june 2011 Banders???
Scheduled to be banded on the 29th and now that it's officially count down time I am having mixed feelings. I have good days where I stay positive and upbeat then I have bad ones where I feel like I am almost gonna have a panic attack. I have gotten somewhat obsessive about watching youtube videos of lapband fills. To think that a huge needle is going into my stomach freaks me out. I don't think I am scared as much for the surgery as I am for the fills. I think I am going to have to talk to my surgeon about getting anti anxiety pills to get the fills done along with something to numb the area beforehand. Just typing this post is giving me anxiety. But I do know this is something I need to have done as I feel so unhealthy being at my weight. I have tried diets after diets to only fail. I need something that is going to hold me accountable. Something that will help me to restrict my intake of food. My biggest issue with me being fat is that I can't control my portions, so this will be the tool that I hope will work.

Looking for June 2011 Bandits!
Thanks for the reply. Being diagnosed with IBS, I have had lots of problem with gas pains so much so that I would double over in pain and had to be prescribed pain meds for when I had attacks. So i kinda know what you all are going through. I am hoping that I won't have it so bad and will definitely have a heating pad nearby just in case. I am also going to try the walking to keep blood clots and gas away. Congrats on your progress and glad to hear of your recovery going well.

Looking for June 2011 Bandits!
Thanks for the reply, I will definitely ask for the nausea patch. Glad your recovery is going well and congrats on the 23 lb weight loss!!! I can't wait for that to happen. I too have a BMI of 40 so can't wait also to bring that down. I just found out that I have to reschedule my surgery to the 29th because of a UTI I have. They want to wait till I finish my meds before preceding to surgery to prevent complications for occuring. To hear of these success stories so far is making me a little impatient so I am a little depressed about having to put it off a little longer. But I also don't want any complications as well, so will have to wait it out. Again thanks for the reply and congrats on your progress.

Looking for June 2011 Bandits!
Thanks for your feedback. Glad your recovery is going well. Will definitely ask the doctor for anti nausea meds. Don't do good with the nausea after waking up. Had a leep procedure done in the hospital and since I don't have a high pain threshold I had to be put under. When I woke up the nausea was horrible, so they imediately gave me anti nausea meds to counteract that. I defintely won't have a problem farting as well, especially if it relieves some of my gas pain : ) Starting to feel a little better now, thanks!
