I've been overweight since I was 6 years old and tried every diet (often with success) that exists:  Weight Watchers at least 8 times, OptiFast, NutriSystems, hypnosis, TOPS, pills, Atkins, juice fasting.  You name it and I've probably done it, at least for a while.  I always gain it back when there's an emotional stressor in my life.

This time with Lapband, I'm also part of a DBT (Dialectic Behavioral Therapy) support group that will help me develop new thinking patterns to substitute instead of eating when I'm feeling strong emotions.  I'm only a few weeks into the DBT group, but believe it will be the second tool that can help me succeed.
My current BMI is 33%, so I know that no surgeon in the US will touch me, since I also have no co-morbid conditions.  I do have 70 pounds to lose, which is a formidable mountain of fat.  I'm excited and just a bit nervous about the whole thing.  Here I go!
