My Boyfriend Left Me
I am not the type that can let go and just be that strong. So there is nothing I can say that is going to help you. Cry, cry and then cry some more. Blow up his phone. Whatever you do is what you do...I do know that in time...you won't be this devistated...but no one can tell you any different. I just always tell my friends...don't risk losing your job! Bright side: At least you can't drown your sorrows in a bowl of ice cream! THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT!

Why Won't My Brain Let Me See The Loss?
In my pics I seem almost tiny, but I don't see it in the mirror - just in pics. I feel like I could lose more, but I am somewhere between 168 and 174 and 5'11". Something like 70% of the population at my height is heavier than me. I will just keep looking at the pictures and hopefully something will click. I look down and still feel like I could lose a lot more and that is JUST NUTS. I am not sure it will ever really click.

A Size 8? Who Are You Kidding?
The really weird thing are the jean sizes. I am like what the hell is a 31 or 30? What does that mean? I am still confused. I did just go from a 31 to 30 and fit in size 8 of some brands...size 10 for others. I have to get the thigh lift! My thighs are yucky too. I can wear bermuda shorts

6 Months Out... How Many Calories Are You All Taking In Daily?
I think I had lost 70 at 4.5 months. You lose the most in the first six months. I am going on month 13 and am still losing, but my restriction is still crazy and I am only hungry sometimes. I probably ate 600 to 800 calories at 6 months, but everyone is different. I didn't work out, and I never stalled. Things will slow down so that is why the first six months are so important to get the bulk of the weight off.

Anybody See The Movie Fat Head?
Just watched it! While Morgan Spurlock may be pushing a vegan agenda, I do think there is a problem with our food industry. Hormones, GMO's, anti-biotics...I am not going to be vegan, but I do like organic meats. McDonald's uses fillers in their meats...Gross. I just like fresh foods. I also wonder if my success with the VSG is also due to the fact that I pretty much ate protein most of the time. I do eat sugar, but not a lot! I eat chips sometimes, but not a lot! I don't know what is right or wrong, but the paleo diet seems right.

1 Day Post Op And Some Observations
I think there are no set standards and doctors have all sorts of different rules. Some people are allowed to eat right after surgery and some follow a stricter diet. Some drink sodas and some do not. While I have a great deal of respect for doctors I feel I still have to do research and know for myself what I should do because only I know my body. I didn't follow the liquid diet because the liquid diet is to help reduce the size of your liver pre surgery. My liver function is normal. I cut back and did not go crazy, but I also did not go liquid all the way. I lost 6 pounds that week I don't drink soda. There are people on here that do. The theory is it could stretch your sleeve. I am not sure if the doctor's are right, but I don't mess with soda just in case they are. Many people say soda is ok, but I am too chicken to take that risk. I don't do everything everyone tells me and I question the system a lot, but I know too many times where my grandfather would be like no you asshold doctor I have this and they wouldn't listen. A eye doctor blinded him, he had a heart attack while the doctor was telling him it was a panic attack. I will never be an uninformed patient.

I'd Like To Hear What You Have To Say! (Questions)
3. I probably could have had bypass or the band, but I was really scared of those two surgeries. The day I applied for care credit, thinking I was going to get the bypass surgery, is the same day I found out about the sleeve. The only doctor who took care credit was Dr. Salameh and it was on his site that he spoke about the sleeve. I was sold immediately! Not one doubt about the sleeve, not for one second! 4. I miss nothing about my former life. Nothing. I was a slave to food and now I can actually keep a pint of ice cream in the freezer for a long time. It is liberating. I can eat whatever I want, but just not a lot of it. I don't miss anything. Even right after surgery I didn't miss anything. I occasionally miss chugging water down quickly...I loved fluids...but now I can do better than sip, just no gulping. I don't even really miss fountain sodas. I sometimes want a ginger ale, but the thought passes quickly.

I'd Like To Hear What You Have To Say! (Questions)
1. I had no choice but to self pay. 2. I am so glad I had good credit and get most of financed through care credit. If I couldn't get the financing I would have felt hopeless or would have really starting saving all my $.

1 Day Post Op And Some Observations
I was following the liquid diet, but then I read on here that a lot of folks didn't even have a pre-op diet. I did follow it, but not all the way. I had really good blood work so I wasn't too worried about my liver.

I Am Flat Out Hungry & It Sucks!
For me it was just like before sugery...if I waited too long to eat I was starving and then I would over eat. Yesterday I just couldn't eat and then I was starving and it seemed like even after I ate I still felt hungry, but just couldn't eat anymore. I always try to eat before I get to that point. If I miss my cheese for breakfast I have a really off day. So I try not to skip meals and try to feel overly full when I do eat. So maybe you just need some smaller meals.

Something Funny!
When I lost weight in 2003 and moved back home from Miami to DC I lived with my friend Rebecca. Apparently she thought I was hilarious and made a book of quotes over the years and I filled a lot of her book. Well I try to keep in touch with her so yesterday she told me that I was the first quote in her book... " the only way to lose weight is to eat nothing all day for about six months" funny that is basically what we all do.

Self Sabotage...please Help Me!
I am really scared too! Just this past week I can eat even more than ever. Slice of pizza goes down like a normal person. I think I have to really make sure that I also have dense protien at work. So I guess tuna packs, but oh the salt. I really have to start baking!

How Long After Sleeve Surgery Did You Complete Plastic Surgery?
I am I one year today. Need an inner thigh lift. Not sure when I will get it, but I know I will. Tummy tuck at some point too, but will wait to meet with a doctor. Have a consultation on August 3rd with one doctor. Washington, DC is out of this world expensive in comparison to other markets. My sleeve was $18k.

1 Year Today!
116 pounds down! From a size 20/22 to an 8! And I am 5'11"! Check out my profile for my before and after. I will take more pics this weekend! I think I am done losing anything big. If 10 more come off I am ok with it. If I stay at 175 I am ok with it. I just need to work out!

Feeling Self-Conscious Post-Sleeve?
My poor thighs. I am still going to have to wear shorts in the water until I have an inner thigh lift. I do still feel self conscience but at least I don't feel like a slave to food. That by far was the worst. I have flabby inner thighs, but I still like what I see more than I did before.

Biggest Loser
This is why I want to make a documentary on these shows. I love them, but at the same time I think some of them are just plain hogwash. The whole industry is manipulating you into a false reality and then selling you apps, diet pills and more. It is all about $.
