  1. December 1 - 207.2 December 8 - 207.4 December 15 - 201. 6 December 22 - 200.4 December 29 - 196 This is the first challenge that I have met my goal and it was over the holidays which is really awesome! Good job everyone! Can't wait for the next one.
  2. The marathon is May 6, 6 days after my 30th birthday! I did my first half marathon on my 24th birthday. I am in much better shape already, so I'm excited to see how I do as I continue to train.
  3. December 1 - 207.2 December 8 - 207.4 December 15 - 201. 6 December 22 - 200.4
  4. Hey! I've been adding my miles up, but haven't responded here. I started training for a marathon, so this will be the first month I actually reach my goal of 60. Looks like I will even be way beyond it!
  5. December 1 - 207.2 December 8 - 207.4 December 15 - 201. 6 Down 5.8 this week! I haven't had a loss like that in months. So close to under 200 and I'm kinda freaking out even though I know I should be really excited. I get real nervous each time I step on the scale. Great job Larry! That's an amazing accomplishment!
  6. I lost really quick in the beginning and then it slowed down some. My surgeon says I am still ahead of where I should be. Enjoy it if you are not having any other problems, then it's normal. We all lose at different rates and it's really affected by how much we have to lose.
  7. Remember you will typically also lose a little slower as you weigh less. You were under 200! That's fantastic! (null)
  8. Overall it hasn't been slow, but I tend to lose a few pounds and then gain them back before losing them for good. So that part has been frustrating.
  9. Yesterday was five months since I was banded. It has been a journey of ups and downs, but I think I would do it all over again. While my weight loss journey has put some added stress on my relationship with my boyfriend, we are working through those bumps and I am so much healthier in just 5 short months. I have lost a total of 69.2 pounds and I am so close to be under 200 pounds for the first time in years, probably since high school. I lost 24 of this prior to surgery. I also ran 9 miles this past Saturday. I only started running again in September. I used to run and have even done a couple half marathons, but I am in better running shape then ever. I am training for my first marathon on May 6, a week after my 30th birthday. I hope that this post will encourage someone who is struggling. I definitely have been on a rollercoaster since surgery and even before. There have been days that I have been frustrated by the slowness of the process, but then I remember that it took me my whole life to put the weight on and it doesn't have to come off overnight. The hard work is worth it when you look at all the health benefits you will receive long term.
  10. You can do this Joan! You have been doing great without a fill, and you can keep doing it. You are in my prayers.
  11. December 1 - 207.2 December 8 - 207.4 I always seem to gain the first week of our challenge. Luckily I lost first and dropped down to 205.6 before bouncing back up so it's a smaller gain than usual. Maybe it's something with my body this time of the month. Anyway - I've already done 20 of my 60 miles, so I am trying to focus more on that and getting ready for the marathon I will run in May. I'm also seeing my surgeon on Monday for my 5 month follow up and trying to decide if I need another small fill or not. Good job everyone! And you are in my prayers Joan. Praying for a succesful surgery and quick healing. Let us know how you do.
  12. For me it wasn't 230, but every time I lost 30 pounds I'd plateau, eventually give up and gain it all back. I was scared when I hit 30 but have gone on to double that! You can do this!!!! (null)
  13. I'm sorry you are having trouble with your port site. When did you have your surgery? Can I ask what's making you so upset that you want to have your entire band removed? I know there are a couple of women on the boards who have had a similar experience with the port, and have had it removed and then eventually replaced. From what I can tell they have gone on to still lose weight. Sorry I can't be much more help, but I will be praying for you and your healing no matter what you decide. I hope your appointment goes well. Keep us posted.
