I have struggled with my weight since I was in elementary school. Kids always made fun of me, so I've always had low self esteem and I found comfort in food and would also just eat because I was bored. I tried exercising and dieting on my own but I could never stick to it for very long.
I broke down crying this past Christmas when I could not fit into the dress my Mom got for me. She then told me that once I was back on her insurance that she would look into getting me the lap band. She knew how much my weight was hurting me and all she wants is for me to be happy and feel good about myself. During the whole process of getting me approved, I found out for the first time that I have mild sleep apnea. It made so much sense why I had trouble sleeping and even though it's scary knowing that I stop breathingoften in my sleep, it also helped me get approved for something I really needed.
I had my lap band surgery just recently on May 26th. The diet is of course way different from how I used to eat, but I'm hanging in there and doing what I'm supposed to be doing. The lap band is giving me that boost I need to eat healthy and to become a whole new Me. I owe it all to my Mom. And I will never forget everything she's done for me.
I'm about to start on my soft food diet and once I get back to eating actual food, I know I will continue to eat healthy and doing everything I can to make my weight loss successful.
I'm looking forward to my new life!
