I know it is frustrating but don't loose faith. Mine was postponed because of all kinds of paperwork for atleast 6 months. I was about ready to give up when it all finally worked out. Hang in there. You have to be the one who keeps the ball rolling. Your calls and stick with it attitude will be what pushes you on through. Hugs coming your way!

I saw that one of you is from Conyers, GA. That was my home town also. I was born and raised there until 14. I went to Rockdale, well that was MANY years ago.

Do not allow communication problems to continue. Your health is way too important. Go to the next level if you have must to get the right answers and proper care. I had the same problem with my GP's wife, who was also the office manager. I finally had to just go find a new GP.

Congratulations! I love Dr. Macik! I would never go anywhere else. Take your time and when you get there enjoy your results. I was 232 lbs (size 24) the day I went in for surgery and now I am 134 lbs (size 4). I never planned to loose this much but I am so happy and feel WONDERFUL! Let me know if you ever need any help. DO NOT GIVE UP! I know you are frustrated. I was the same way. By the time everything was done with my tests it took a year longer than I had planned. It is worth the wait. I al so used Dr. Macik and love him to death! He is the BEST in GA. I am very happy with all of his work and he is well worth the wait. I hit snags also and almost gave up... DON'T. Your new life will be well worth all you have had to go through. Hugs, Hansi

I am one year out as of yeasterday (July 8th 2011was surgery) I am doing great and down 100 lbs. Yesit is well worth it.

Sorry I hit post too soon. My wait was about a year in total because my insurace turned me down to start with. My husband was done in less than 6 months from start to surgery. Hang in there and if you need anything let me know. It is a hard and frustrating walk but the results are worth it. I was a size 22 and felt awful and could hardly catch my breath at times. Now I am a size 6 to 8 and live life to the fullest. Each day is a new gift that gets better and better. I have tons of energy and my health is great. Sending best wishes and hugs.

Hello and congratulations on the decision you have made. I knowit is NOT an easy one but one that will change the rest of your life. I only recommend Dr. Paul Macik and he works out of Northside Atlanta or Johns Creek. He is the best and I can tell you he is well versed in fixing problems as well. I love him and WOULD NOT go anywhere else. Yes I got my energy back and have more than I had at the age of 19 (don't tell anyone but I am 41 now.)

I am down 100 lbs and summer is soooo much easier now that I have lost weight. You next summer will be the time of your life! I was sleeved by Dr. Macik here in Atlanta. I am so sorry. When my stomach ruptured the doctor wanted to place a stent. I started doung internet research and decided to refuse that option. I ask my doctor to just place the feeding tube and allow my stomach to heal that way. I do not understnad why they can move the stent but cant take it out. You could have a feeding tube to bypass the stomach and give it time to heal. I know you feel like this is the worst mistake you have ever made in your life. I was so sick I wanted to die! I promise that feeling will go away, YOU WILL FEEL BETTER. It felt like it took forever but looking back it did not take that long. Please hang in there and I am here if you need someone to talk to.

I had a picc also. The PICC line was put in for long term use in place of an IV. It provied access for all of my medications and IV food. My line was in for almost 4 weeks. You would not need a PICC line unless there was a problem. It was not horrible to have and was less painful that a regular IV. Sounds worse than it is. Hansi

The pulmonologist should have been the one to tell me but she didn't. I just finally let it go because I am better. The doctors were very worried about me and were there for me at any given moment that I needed them. I know you must be worried. I was just like you. I was just hitting 39 bmi and had nothing else except for sleep apnea. I never thought that a problem could happen to me. My husband had his done about two months before me and he NEVER had a problem. I feel that the surgery is well worth everything I went through. I feel wonderful now and have so much energy.

I wore my CPap way too soon after surgery. The forced air causd the rupture. CPap's should not be used for atleast 4 weeks after surgery from what I am told.

Now that time has finally passed, I WOULD DO IT AGAIN. Please do not get me wrong, this was a life or death situation and I made it through. I am down 70 + lbs. was 232 at surgery and now I am 156. I went from a size 22 to an 8 currently. I feel wonderful and have more energy than I have had since I was a teenager. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have or for anyone else. Thank you so much! I am a little better today. I went to the doctor earlier this afternoon and he took my drain out! That is a big step in the right direction I hope. I go tomorrow morning for another upper GI to see where we stand. I am praying that I have been on the fast track and may be healed. I will let you know when I get back. The other good news is that I drove myself to my appointment today, first time I have got to drive since July 14th. I am so happy. It felt good to be free. Hansi

I am glad to hear that those who have had leaks are doing well. I had VS on July 8th, stomach ruptured on July 15th, and stayed in the hospital until Aug. 6th. I am home with a JP drain and a J tube for feeding. The doctor wanted to put a stint in but I was too afraid. I told him I was ok with the feeding tube because I just did not want to take a chance of the stint weakening any other tissue around it. I am on Clear liquids and go to the doctor of a check up tomorrow. Not sure when I will go back in for an upper GI to check to see if the leak has healed. I would guess one day in the next week or so. I have been so depressed because I can't take care of my family. It is hard to just sit here on a feeding tube and watch life go by. At this point this surgery was the worst mistake I have ever made in my life. I pray that I feel different when I am all well and back to "normal." I am hanging in there but would love to talk to others who have been through the same thing. Thank you all, Hansi
