  1. That made me smile . Thanks Pammy. I love you too!!!
  2. Ok, now working with someone like that would freak me out. Her poor kids!! Dr. Phil had a show similar to this recently and although it was really gross, it was interesting to see what makes people like that tick. On the show the lady's life was just kind of spiraling downwards...one thing after another...and it was her way of 'controlling' things. She had 4 refrigerators, 2 freezers, ice chests and her car full of food....most of it rotting. She never threw anything away. If you never throw anything away, there's only one place to put everything! Crazy, man, crazy! Makes me feel so happy to be 'normal'...LOL!! Laura, did you clean your house because of that story?? That'll motivate you, won't it!? Glad your tooth (or lack thereof) is doing good.
  3. Why do I suddenly feel jealous?? Like ya'll get to go on this trip and I don't?? Maybe I'm just afraid to get excited only to be let down now. Waaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
  4. I remember asking a spiritual teacher a long time ago, "But WHY does he act this way...Why do I stay with him??...etc..." And her answer was, "It doesn't matter WHY. It won't help to make you feel better if you understand WHY. All you have to do is know HOW to move forward with your own life and goals." I bring that up because the quote above naturally begs the question, "Well WHY do I sabotage myself? WHY do I make such bad choices over and over again?" See, that takes a lot of energy to figure out WHY, when it doesn't really serve any purpose! We know HOW to move forward (no crap in the house for ONE!) and our goal is to love ourselves with health, not with food! We know HOW to get there.... let's just honor ourselves enough to make loving choices!
  5. Tracy - thanks for asking. Mom is cranky...which I understand is a good (?) sign. They're running a bunch o' tests, so i guess we'll know more today or tomorrow. FYI, girls.... with all this heart trouble my mother has had (among other things) she has never once complained of chest pain. But she OFTEN complains of back pain between her shoulder blades. They say that women experience heart problems much more differently than men.
  6. Michelle - I read this 'magazine' article about that very thing here on LBT. Here's an exerpt...see if it strikes a nerve for you: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f197/reclaiming-your-power-over-food-62338/#post831527 "...I encourage you to take the risk to experience the feelings of not giving in to the compulsion to eat when you are not physically hungry. You can always go back to the old way of living, just experience it and see what it feels like. You might just like it, then again it might be scary, just notice. When I have a client sitting in front of me struggling to reclaim their lives from compulsive eating, I often get an image of them holding onto a ledge of a mountain, high up in the air. They are “white knuckling it” to hang on, then they take the risk and “let go”. I then have the vision of them falling through darkness, and I actually experience this in my body. I get a nervous sensation and a feeling like my stomach is dropping, and for a moment, I lose my breath. Then all of a sudden I experience a calm, the tension in my body leaves, I am able to breathe, there is light, and I experience a glimpse of what I believe paradise to be, something that is difficult to describe in words. To know this sensation of paradise, I now understand that it comes from the willingness to go through the darkness in order to experience the light. We are faced with decisions every moment of every day. We are always faced with the decisions of what to think, how to feel about what we think and what to do about that feeling. Because of the work that I do and because of my desire to grow emotionally and spiritually, I am very conscious of my thoughts and actions. As I stated earlier, I sometimes astound myself at how many times I do not choose to think or act in a way that supports my highest good. However, I have also noticed that by putting my attention to wanting to live in a way that is loving and respectful to myself and others, I make many more choices that are self-loving than I have in the past. I trust that the number of self-nurturing choices that I make for myself will continue to increase because I have come to realize that keeping my word to myself feels better than eating a cookie or engaging in negative thinking....."
  7. Having second thoughts is perfectly natural, of course. And there's still time to change your mind. Perhaps making a list of pros & cons again will help you decide. If the pros win, then just push through your fear and keep putting one foot in front of the other until it's done. As with boredyru (above), rest assured you will go thru a period of "What the hell have i done to myself??" right after surgery as well. Knowing this going in will help. Look at the hundreds and hundreds of users here that all say I LOVE MY BAND!!!.... Hmmm. I wonder why they say that???
  8. How about something from Brighton? I love their keychains or their little mini-frames! so cute! I also love sachets!
  9. Tracy, I think the tuna I use is StarKist...maybe it's bumblebee...can't remember...but it's called Sweet & Spicy flavor and it's in a foil pouch. It's delish!!! I just add a little mayo and I"m good to go. It's great on salads, too! I don't know about the 'sweet' part...might have carbs. :-/

  11. Tracy - there is a GREAT t-shirt shop in Gruene!! Hilarious shirts!...and touristy ones, too. Thanks for your prayers, girlz. If ever there was a time....!!! Judy, get the Bobster working on it! I hear he's got connections!
  12. HAYDEE - Did you get the map links i sent to your email?
  13. Oh, for those of you who have connecting flights: If your first flight is running late and you miss your connection...you go straight to any flight desk and see what they can do to get you another connection ON ANY AIRLINE. They will try to connect you on one of their flights but if the schedule is not convenient you are allowed to raise hell and make them pay for a ticket on another airline. Especially if you have plans like these where there are 'deadlines' to meet.
  14. Heads up everyone. My mom was admitted to the hospital last night. She has a BNP count of 5000+. The normal is 95, 1300 is considered crazy-high. It's a marker for heart failure. I spent several hours in the ER yesterday with her and I'm wiped out. Have to be at work today but my sister is with her. I sure can't say what all this means, but I will certainly try my best to keep my plans intact. At the very least I'll try my hardest to be there Friday to round everyone up and at least most of Saturday. Cross your fingers! Who knows.... she could be fine in a couple of days.
  15. That reminds me.... don't forget that toothpaste is considered a liquid. get one of those travel tubes to bring with you. Here's a link for the regulations again if you need it TSA: SimpliFLY Your Carry-ons
  16. ((((Pamela))))) So happy for you!!!!!!!!!!! You lucky Dawg!
  17. Yep, I did the online dating thing, too! I met 3 guys that I dated for quite awhile. One just turned out to be friends.... we started out "dating" but decided we made better friends than lovers. 10 yrs later i know i could call him if i was in any kind of trouble and he'd be here in a heartbeat. one other one was really a good guy, smart, funny as hell, thought I was the greatest thing ever...but i wasn't ready at the time. Another one i ended up being with for 3+ years....he ended up being quite the psycho but it took me a long time to figure it out. All in all, I recommend online dating! It's cool, but you gotta have a tough hide and a keen sense of judgement.
  18. I'm liking the new forum rules! Did ya'll see the link above in green? It was hard to moderate with the loosey-goosey very liberal rules we had before. I'm ready to bring the hammer down!!! lol Seriously, ya'll don't hesitate to report a post that you feel isn't in alignment with the rules. It helps the mods to have your eyes working, too.
  19. Laura - I think that casserole sounds YUMMY! Asparagus is my fave too! Your sister is just plain odd. That's all there is to it. Kat - Have you looked up the patient info for Zyrtec? Might shed some light on the sitcheeayshun. Maybe you're anemic? I know after the CRAP I've been eating that I probably am. What I had today: oatmeal, coffee 1/3 c mashed potatos, small amt of squash, 1/4 c. chili cottage cheese & strawberries, granola on top 1/4 of a turkey wrap (got stuck), potato chips and ranch dressing vanilla froz yogurt cone Gee, I wonder why I'm not losing weight????????????? Gonna try to wean off of my Lexapro over the next few weeks. Wish me luck! It'd be nice to be off of meds. I have NO sex drive. I'm hoping it's the drugs and not a permanent state. Oy. I'm pooped. Nighty-night.
  20. Perhaps because they're surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of MIDDLE SCHOOLERS???? I think I might be a tad bit on edge myself.
  21. :willy_nilly:Why are days that you expect to be quiet and lazy usually just the opposite????
  22. Haydee's hair is GORGEOUS! Don't do anything!!!
  23. I use it! I have LOTS of hair but it is fine...so it needs something to give it body. I use just a teensy-weensy bit and it seems to help. Laura - thanks for reminding me...dd has been wanting me to go visit lolkatz for awhile now. That one is hilarious!
  24. Oh, I remember those days Tracy....I would be at work and could KILL for some SF jello!! ANYTHING sweet!! Eventually it goes away and I was perfectly content as a low-carber for 2 years. HA! Those days are long gone! I practically live on carbs now.Carbs and cheese. Nice, eh? I wish you the best! I know I felt a lot better then...and my bloodwork was picture perfect!
  25. Way to go Tracy!! Yep! Chicken juice would definitely ruin the cookies for me, too. Good job!
